"We had a comfortable stay in a good clean room with restful beds and efficient bathroom facilities.We appreciated the quiet location and pleasant outlook over the garden area and surrounding landscape......fine weather helped. "Brilliant location in the thick of everything, there is work to one side of the hotel. This doesn't impact on you stay at all. Its had and having lots of money spent on it and its lovely to see the current owners are bringing it back in the style it was that reflects its heritage. The art deco style is prominent throughout. The breakfast was superb and the staff are lovely. All very friendly and seem reflect they like working within this tremendous hotel. When we checked in, the welcome could not havd been warmer. Charlie, on reception is a brilliant "front of house man". He was extremely helpful and always met us with a smile when we saw him. Its a skill to be familiar and friendly, without being overwhelming. This lad is an asset to the place. He as humour, familiarity and a brilliant local knowledge. All in all ot was a great stay. We will be back. "

"Lovely warm rooms, on a particularly cold weekend, spotlessly clean and including very useful kitchen, sofa, table and chairs. My only area for improvement would be better communicating that these rooms are essentially self-catering. A small amount of tea, coffee and milk is provided as a welcome when you arrive, but you really need to bring your own if you are staying for more than one night. We came in unequipped for self-catering, but there was a small shop for essentials and a bar/restaurant for lunch and dinner on-site. Staff were also extremely helpful in directing us to a nearby truckers’ café that did really good breakfasts. I would definitely stay here again."

"Excellent bar dog friendly "

"Our dog was made very welcome and we were told where we could sit with him for breakfast. Room was small and basic. No mirror outside of the bathroom so blow drying my hair was very difficult after I sourced a drier from reception. The ceiling was creaking on and off all night very loudly as the people in the room above did god knows what as it was at 2 am and then at short intervals all through the night. There was gf bread for me at breakfast. The orange juice was squash and coffee dreadful. Bacon was thick and well cooked. "

"Highly recommend this hotel lovely friendly staff on-site car park has chargers for electric vehicle vehicles. Fantastic spa and swimming pool food was superb in the two restaurants. It’s right at the south of Lake Windermere so literally you can walk over to the ferry to do a ferry cruise to Ambleside or Bowness on Windermere Winder - it also has an aquarium and a steam train during the summer month. We didn’t bring our dog, but it is a dog friendly Hotel you really enjoyed our stay and already planning on bringing the dog for another trip "
