"Got this room for my sister-in-law. Not only did she not feel safe there but the room was dilapidated- the walls had extreme levels of peeling paint and the sheets were heavily stained. She didn’t stay the night and I will be contesting the charges. "

"This hotel is central to everywhere we want to go in SF! Plus, we feel safe in this neighbourhood. We love the atmosphere at Union Square, and BART is close by for our trips out to the suburbs. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Our room was nice and clean, and our room requests were met 100%. We have stayed at the Handlery many times over the years, and will stay here again! "Being a boutique hotel, I try to be very aware of how things are done here. It's an old building so obviously, things will be old too. In the bathroom, there were multiple little flies in there and we even found a dead cockroach in the drawers. It wasn't even worth noting because we were leaving soo anyways but it left a bad taste. Our key cards stopped working mid trip as well. "
