"Great location & great value! Loved staying in this historic hotel which is beautifully maintained. Lovely food in the dining room . Welcoming, helpful staff. Will plan to stay here again, next I'm in Northampton!"

"The Inn on Boltwood is a beautiful old building. We have stayed there twice since 2023. The layout is different, but I think that adds to the charm. Do pay attention as to how you got to your room. Signage is good but with varying levels, it can be easy to zig when you should have zagged. If you are a light sleeper, request a higher floor as the floor boards do creak. Otherwise, we have always found the hotel to be quiet. There are several seating areas throughout the Inn, but the library is the best space. We enjoyed the spaciousness of room 212. The room has a living room, separate sitting area with windows, a bathroom and bedroom. If I had any design suggestion, it would be to add shears to room 212, so the blinds can be lifted to let in natural light without loosing all privacy."

"Staff was friendly, room was clean, air conditioner very quiet and effective. And if course the location is nearly ideal for a visit to Northampton. Breakfast was very sparse, with few choices. Noise from other rooms, in particular a dog who had apparently been left alone in the room across the hall from me, was disturbing when I was trying to sleep."

"My husband and I had such a wonderful stay at the Black Walnut Inn. From the moment we arrived, Gail made us feel genuinely welcome. She is one of the kindest hosts we’ve ever met, and you can tell how much she and her husband care about their guests and their inn. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful—fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. It was one of the highlights of our stay. We did have an issue with a noisy guest late one night, but I want to emphasize that this was clearly not the norm. Gail responded immediately, personally checked in with us, spoke with the guest, and even went above and beyond by giving us gift cards as a thoughtful gesture. She truly cared about making things right, and her kindness and professionalism meant so much to us. Situations like that can happen anywhere, but what really matters is how they’re handled—and Gail handled it exceptionally well. The Black Walnut Inn is charming, peaceful, spotless, and full of thoughtful touches. We left feeling cared for, and we’re so grateful for Gail and her husband’s hospitality. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend the Black Walnut Inn to anyone looking for a relaxing and welcoming getaway."

"The property was lovely, well-maintained, and in a beautiful location. The breakfast was excellent, the staff was kind and professional. My only issue was the noise in the parking lot late at night. I was awoken from a very deep sleep by some men having a loud conversation outside, presumably after leaving the restaurant/bar. Only after I got out of bed and knocked on the window did they stop."

"I typically stay at Homewood Suites up the road. My room at TownePlace was too small, even for 1 person. And what is up with having to place your keycard into this slot by the door to have some LIGHTS! This involved the kitchen, bathroom, and one of the lights on the wall in the living/bedroom. No room at all for a kitchen table. Only had a small table in the living room. There were 2 days that the room wasn’t cleaned. It was set up for cleaning everyday, not every other day. Going back to Homewood suites next year."
