「Stranded 1 night in Rio & exhausted. Booked a room at Modernistas Hospedagem e Arte because it's in a traditional touristic neighborhood, as opposed to the beaches. I already know (& love) the beaches but was coming to Rio after 2 wks on Florianópolis beaches. Missed my flight to US at Riogaleão, arriving after midnight. 「The hotel room was great. The reception staff was also very helpful & shockingly, she spoke perfect English. The rest of the country either refuses to speak English or cant. Whilst the hotel service was great, the neighbourhood is extremely sketchy. I didnt feel safe and would not venture out alone in broad daylight beyond the front porch of the hotel. The only reason to book this hotel is its close proximity to the Sambadrome. 」
