"Location is great! The owner kindly allowed me to check in a little early. The room itself was very clean, modern and well-appointed. Unfortunately, shortly after unpacking, I noticed what looked like a bug coming out from under the pillow. This made me uncomfortable, so I chose to sleep in the shower and decided not to stay for the second night."

I didn’t receive any details until standing outside on a rainy day trying to figure out how to call a local phone number, which was eventually answered by someone who only speaks Chinese. After an awkward minute on the phone they hung up, but a few minutes later I finally got instructions on how to get inside. The staircase inside is very tight and carrying suitcases up is quite difficult. Once inside, the room is clean...

"We absolutely adore this Japanese homestay nestled atop Jiufen. The room is immaculate and spotless, and the hostess serves delectable breakfasts every morning. On clear days, the view from the dining room is breathtakingly spectacular, allowing you to see the entire Jiufen town stretching all the way to the ocean. It’s a beautiful and awe-inspiring sight! "Very nicely built wooden chalet. The mattress is of 5 star hotel standard. Good farm view from the balcony. There may be noise from the railway but the balcony glass door is well sound proofed. Owner of the hotel was very nice indeed. Highly recommend Artisan to anyone."
