「Stranded 1 night in Rio & exhausted. Booked a room at Modernistas Hospedagem e Arte because it's in a traditional touristic neighborhood, as opposed to the beaches. I already know (& love) the beaches but was coming to Rio after 2 wks on Florianópolis beaches. Missed my flight to US at Riogaleão, arriving after midnight. Check in ends at 6pm, but for a small late check-in fee, the reservations agent secured an onsite caretaker, Antonieta, to await me. By the time I picked up my bag, cleared...

「Good Hotel to stay. Kind service at front desk. Useful information about traveling in RIO. Fair price. No exchange of money in the hotel, but they will guide you where to change R$. Very close to main bus station and about 5 mins walk to the Metro. Safe region (Cetro area).」

「The hotel room was great. The reception staff was also very helpful & shockingly, she spoke perfect English. The rest of the country either refuses to speak English or cant. Whilst the hotel service was great, the neighbourhood is extremely sketchy. I didnt feel safe and would not venture out alone in broad daylight beyond the front porch of the hotel. The only reason to book this hotel is its close proximity to the Sambadrome. 」
