Loved my room my favorite the tub
Loved the elevator
A great pet friendly hotel right by Union Square! Great location and great prices. There is a $20 amenity fee per day that I wasn’t expecting though. Breakfast was ok (eggs, sausage, toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, coffee, tea, milk). They have a cat who lives in the lobby named Skittles and she is adorable! It does NOT smell like urine (like another review said). Our room was quiet, cozy, clean, and we felt safe. We wish that there was a refrigerator in the room. We gave them an 8/10 overall. We would recommend them!
Great location and enjoyable stay. The breakfast exceeded my expectations and offered everything I needed. The room was clean, and the shared bathroom was also spotless and well-maintained.
The only issue was that there was no housekeeping during my three-night stay, even after I reminded the front desk in the morning. That was a little disappointing.
Overall, it was still a comfortable stay, and I would recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, breakfast, and convenient location.
The breakfast was wonderful and just down the street in their charming French sister restaurant just a little down the block, the staff were polite and courteous, and the bathroom had this large beautiful antique bathtub. 5 stars!
Pros: Staff was very kind and listened to concerns. Location was wonderful, near lots of attractions and transportation hubs!
Con’s: Had one of the tons with a shared bath. The bathroom for was malfunctioning, continuously locking you in our out! Very scary later at night! Water pressure was more on our floor, and shower temp was burning hot on our floor, freezing cold on another floor, and finally “just right” yet a third floor. This is crazy and unacceptable! We complained several times. There is an extreme shortage of staff. I blame the management for this f debacle. Sure, it was lower price, but having to go to other floors just to take a shower?!? TV didn’t work until a staff member fixed that problem. Again, managers fault! Staff was doing their best.

When I got to the hotel, it actually said it was CLOSED and I had to complete check in at a hotel down the street (despite already having a bunch of luggage to carry around). Was very strange. Breakfast was also at the other hotel (although it was actually very good). Elevator is a super old vintage one with two doors and there is also a cat in residence (I do like cats, but would've liked to know in advance since my dog went a bit crazy). The photos on the walls are also old and it gave me a bit of a Haunted Mansion vibe. Luckily no ghosts.
I loved my stay at Golden Gate Hotel! The property staff were very friendly and accommodating, and I loved the charm of the building and the neighborhood. Lots of great food, comedy shows, and live music in the area. Will definitely visit again!

Everything and everyone was great! Friendly staff, clean hotel, vintage San Francisco experience and resident cat Skittles was warm and inviting. We loved it! Recommend A++
Room was clean and super cute! Plus there’s a cat that lives in the hotel and followed me into my room and hung out! Very memorable and positive experience :)
Golden Gate front desk has limited hrs (closes @ 5). After hrs, the sister hotel, The Cornell front desk should be picking up phone calls; this failed me twice. And when I went to bkft the last day of my stay, there was no one @ that desk to buzz me in so I left to a nearby cafe. Otherwise it's a nice establishment with charming ambiance in a convenient location for my needs. As nice as the staff are, it needs work.
Place was perfect. Very cute and Skittles the Inn cat followed us to our room and slept in the chair all night. Breakfast down the street was also great at the hotel de France
