The hotel was under renovations... it was loud when they were working on repairs. The worst part was that they had 2 of 3 elevators closed for "modernization". I understand maintenance and improvements are necessary, but they really should do 1 at a time. The elevator wait times were ridiculous. And because there was only 1 and everyone else was in the same boat, there were several times that they got WAY overloaded. Packed in there like sardines! I'm POSITIVE that we were over the max weight capacity.
The free breakfast was sub-par. I know that it was "free" but it's not really, it's baked into the price of your rooms. And compared to many other hotels I've stayed with "free" breakfasts, this one was definitely below average.
The beds were springy, loud and uncomfortable.
The AC worked in the sense that it cooled down the room, but it had an intermittent rattle sound that woke me up multiple times. Had to live with it thought because San Diego was unusually muggy.
That's all my gripes... Other than that, the hotel is cheap and it's in a good location. Easy access to the waterfront, Little Italy, the light rail. Not far from the airport or the Zoo. Took several Ubers to different parts of town and most were under 10 minutes drives. the furthest we went was Ocean Beach, and that was probably 15 minutes or less. Very centrally located. The hotel also did a good job decorating for both Pride and Comicon. Very festive!
