The most amazing room!! Newly redone. Huge bathroom with bright lighting. Sink area had an incredible mirror. So nice n bright. Had a couch, nice big tv w many good channels. Now let’s talk plugs ins/charging areas. We could hv plugged in 20 things!! Unreal!! The had an “executive desk area”-compare it to any office, moveable desk, outlets all over. Staff was so very nice. We checked in late, the owner had his mgr help with our bags yo the 2nd floor. It was the most perfect room. I told them we wished we could have taken their room for the rest of our 4 week vacation!! If ever on the area we absolutely would stay there. It was perfect!! Everything was!!

The rooms were clean and furnishings looked brand new, were stylish and thoughtfully planned. The bed was very comfortable! One reason I booked us at the Steinbeck was its location away from the 101 Hwy. Although there was some street noise overall it was quieter than any other Salinas lodgings I'd stayed in on previous occasions. Occasionally there was noise from the plumbing, perhaps from another room. I will book the Steinbeck Lodge during our next stay in Salinas.

I relied on the Expedia reviews and selecting this facility, and was not disappointed. It was perfect for my needs for a quick two nights stay in the area. Only one complaint – the excessively loud rap music played by some construction workers in the parking lot Friday night until 9 PM or so.

This property is in a very good area of Salinas. Many places in downtown are easily accessible. If you are a tourist visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea or on a road trip, this is a great place to stay and commute from. The rooms are very clean, spacious, and full of the amenities you will need. I highly recommend it!

Very upset. I called the day of and added a day to my stay and told them i would be arriving at 130 am, the gentleman said ok and that he would be there. We showed up and it was closed. Noone answered the phone or door. I had already paid for our stay ahead of time. So now thank goodness i found another hotel open and just paid again to stay there so we didnt have to sleep in our car. So very upset with this place. Hopefully i will get my money back since it was no fault of my own.

Room was filthy. After walking around the room in socks we noticed they were black. We asked reception to mop the floor and they said they would. The next day, it was no better. We didn't see any mops in the housekeeping trolleys so assume they never mop. Car parking spaces were very tight, even for a smaller car. The beds were scuffed and the mattresses must have been very old from the feel of the springs. It was useful having a laundry, and at least the price of the room was reasonable.

The Lodge seemed recently renewed, looked very good overall and reflected pride in ownership. This is a revamped motel so you should not expect the same experience that you might from a standard Marriott or Hilton. We had a plumbing issue that management did not offer to fix and caused us to seek the nearest Starbucks to solve in short term. Discussing this with what appeared to be the owner, he seemed aware of the issue and had sent a plumber previously to repair it. But somehow, it was not fixed. All in all, the owner was a decent guy and the facilities were fair for the price. I would go back if in the area.
