I really enjoyed the property however they encouraged me to pay for breakfast in the morning and when I got there, it was sold out, which I did not know could even happen. Otherwise I would have paid when I checked in which I had no problem doing because I knew I was going to need the breakfast option because I was traveling with my 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year-old and it just made a lot more sense to eat at the property… Since they were sold out we had to check out four hours earlier than planned in order to hit the road and grab some food before we took HWY 1 all the way home… Not having breakfast put a huge damper on our day, our trip and created some unhappy memories because everybody was hungry! Next time ask if they want the buffet breakfast at registry and if they don’t tell them it does sell out

The problem is the housekeepers who literally knock on your door like a military drill instructor at 8:20 am. It happened to me during my stay. The housekeeper knocked loudly at our door like banging it, waking up my sleeping toddler. Before I asked how I can help her, she was already angry before the conversation. So I told her that check out is at 11 am and not at 8 am and she has no business of banging each hotel doors. She told me in a nasty voice that we did not put a "do not disturb" tag on the door which literally our room has none. So I asked for her name and she immediately called for security. Well, the immediate supervisor came in and I asked, where is the security because "your housekeeper is out of order!" He said, "we don't have those." I told him that I paid for the room and I deserve privacy until checkout time. "You don't knock at my door at 8 am like a military drill instructor." He said that they are not state park employees and they are under the company called Aramark.😂 Since the kids are all awake and we are ready for check out, we walked to the customer service desk before we stroll to the beautiful boardwalk and Asilomar beach, which is still closed until 9am. What a great start to ruin the day by your housekeeper! The mere fact that customer service admitted that they hear similar complaints will tell you the habits of these individuals! My stay is not free. These folks are callous and has no place in this kind of business!!!

Great last minute addition to our Spring Break. The location was beautiful and accommodating for what we needed. The rooms are dated but clean. For the price, we would definitely book again with friends and family. The grounds have a lot of potential and from what we could see, history. We loved the lodge feel. Wish we had more time to explore.

This was our second time staying at this absolutely beautiful, historic property. We love Asilomar for its quiet and comfortable atmosphere and its close proximity to Pebble Beach, Carmel, downtown Pacific Grove and Monterey. Just keep in mind this is not a “resort.” There’s no valet parking, spas (there is an older pool on the far edge of the grounds), or Michelin-starred restaurants. You won’t find a refrigerator, microwave, or even a telephone or television in the guest rooms. The rooms we’ve stayed in each visit were clean and comfortable, and reminiscent of a room in a rustic mountain cabin. We always see deer when we walk the pathways around the property. In the evening we enjoy making the short walk out to Asilomar Beach to take in the gorgeous sunsets. We highly recommend this place, and plan to return later in the year.

There was no housekeeping service after night one of our two night stay, that was surprising. The most disappointing was the breakfast food, it was shockingly bad. We had to go offsite on day two. Overall a really great location and vibe on the property, would certainly recommend if food and service improve.

Staff was good but the room was really really old, dark and did not have a phone to get anything from housekeeping. Our room was out of hand soap I had to go all the way to guest checkin which was 0.3 miles from my room. It was in a great location but the room did not justify the price

This place is begging for an upgrade! The grounds are beautiful and peaceful but the rooms need major refreshment. Love the cabin feel, but there is a better way. There is no air conditioning so there needs to be functioning windows with screens and screens doors for air flow or add ceiling fans. There is no mini fridge to keep things cold and unfortunately during our stay the ice machine was broken. We were disappointed with our stay. There wasn’t much solution for the missing window screens other than “that area doesn’t include them” a not all rooms have fridges. Because the grounds are spread out we had to drive to get ice. The rooms feel like you stepped into the 70s very dim and outdated. The beds were ok. Not sure I would consider this a hotel, it has more of a motel experience/decor. This place would be soooooo better with an upgrade

We found hand soap and shower soap depleted. Towels smelled funny. Fawcet made strange noises and was stuck on hot at times. Request for four extra pillows was not granted even though it was placed with days in advance. We had zero service even though we stayed for four nights. Took five hours and two calls to get soaps replaced and fresh towels. But when attendant came she was very nice. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Front desk was unfriendly at best. Don’t think I will be returning for a while.

The room was OK, It was clean. Difficult to find the room's location based on directions given at the reception office. While there was a refrigerator in the room, it would only freeze for a 2 hour period and then you would have to reset it. My wife had medication that needed to be cold or frozen.
