Great location and solid stay overall, but with a few key things to know. The hotel is steps from the walking/biking trail, beach, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, and tons of restaurants and shops. We felt safe walking around at night—even our 21-year-old son walking alone. Free parking is a plus, and the complimentary breakfast was a great way to start the day and save a little money.
Juan, the manager, was absolutely wonderful—kind, helpful, and responsive. He really made a difference in our stay.
However, be very cautious if you're driving a vehicle with any added height. The parking garage has a very low clearance (6'6"), and the warning sign blends into the building and is hard to read. Although the sign says "No pickups, vans, or campers," our SUV with a Yakima rack hit overhead pipes, causing damage. We got stuck and had to back out—causing even more damage. When we told the front desk, they were dismissive and unapologetic, which was frustrating. Thankfully, Juan later handled the situation with professionalism and kindness.
Also worth noting: rooms don’t have blackout curtains, so expect to wake up when the sun rises.
If location and walkability are your priorities, this place delivers. Just double-check your vehicle height before pulling into the garage!
