Martine Inn

8/10 Good

"Martine Inn is undeniably beautiful, and the location is absolutely stunning, but unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t quite live up to the price or the luxury expectations we had. We stayed in the Parke Room and absolutely loved its charm and character. One of our favorite memories was getting to use the fireplace on our second night! I do wish we had been better informed about how cold the rooms can get at night, especially since there’s no central heating or air conditioning. Breakfast was lovely, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and presentation. However, the menu was surprisingly limited, with essentially one main option each morning. Modifications didn’t seem particularly welcomed either. Thankfully, I’m not a picky eater, but for a property marketed as a luxury experience, I would have appreciated more flexibility and variety, especially when it came to protein options. Another thing worth mentioning is the luggage situation. We flew in with a decent amount of luggage and weren’t expecting to have to carry everything upstairs ourselves. It’s something to be prepared for, especially if you’re traveling with larger suitcases. Our biggest disappointment was not having hot water on our first night. After a long day of traveling, this was especially frustrating. While we were offered a discount, it felt relatively small considering the inconvenience and the price we paid for our stay."

Lighthouse Lodge And Cottages

8/10 Good

"The water pressure is very good in the showers. A lot of hotels have really bad water pressure but the lighthouse Lodge has great water pressure in the showers. However, the beds need some upgrading cause they were extremely lumpy at least in the room that we had and hard and maybe a little more expansion on their continental breakfast rather than just bagels and oatmeal but other than that, the stuff was really nice. We didn’t get a chance to check out the pool or the spa but people were using it and it looked nice and cozy, but we didn’t get a chance to use it overall I give it a 3 1/2 to 4 stars"

Centrella Hotel, A Kirkwood Collection Hotel

8/10 Good

"The Centrella has so much potential. The number one drawback is the customer service. Upon entering the lobby, not even a greeting or a glance up to make eye contact, smile or acknowledge your presence. This is not only rude but also troubling from a security standpoint. I asked for a recommendation for diner and was thrust a piece of paper and told that everything I need to know was on there. I noticed that others had the same treatment. We stayed in one of the cottages which was cute and charming. It had everything we needed, however, we had a lovely electric tea pot but no coffee or tea or even a cup to go with our tea pot. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, and gladly, the heat worked, since we had chilly and rainy weather. We had no trouble with parking. we parked both on the lot and on the street. The location is close to restaurants, shops and the beach. All walkable. Regarding the food, either proved food or don't. You have to know to ask for some items like the yogurt parfait and there was nothing but cream cheese for the bagels, not even butter. Food is not readily replenished either. Our second morning there I asked for half and half and was told that it had gone bad, yesterday. You don't have a spare? Breakfast hours could begin a little earlier, too. The nightly glass of wine was lovely but it would be nice to have a "nibble' to go with it. I would stay here again, though, because of the location."
