"The adjoining room door was next to the bed. Very poor sound proofing. The next room’s conversations at normal tones sounded like they were in our room. They talked until 2:45AM. The hotel clerk did make note of it the next morning when I reported it. Hopefully they will fix the problem."

"Check in on Friday at 4 PM had only one person working the desk and the line was at least 15 deep. So that was not great. I asked for an upstairs unit, but of course, that was not available. In the room, the heater did not function well. With the thermostat set all the way to 85 F I could only get the room to 65 degrees so I was cold Friday night. I told housekeeping in the morning and they said they would call engineering. We found a small space heater left in the room when we returned Saturday afternoon. I got that to work, but it completely died sometime in the middle of the night. Cold again. There is no bar soap in the room. I didn’t have time to ask for any. The toilet is small and low to the ground. Perfect for a 4 year old. Even my 5 foot tall wife did not like it. Asilomar is rustic, but the room rate is not rustic. The best part of the place is to admire the architecture designed by Julia Morgan starting in 1913 with the Hearst Social Hall and enjoy the evening fire in the large fireplace. "

"I stayed in one of the historic rooms, which is historically small and unappointed. There wasn't even a chair, just a bed and a bathroom. If you wanted to sit, you could sit on the toilet or the bed. The staff were fine, the hotel at least in that area, is pretty shabby. I was unimpressed and I will not return."

"Check in was not very pleasant as our room was cleaned at the very last minute at 3pm so we had to wait while they cleaned.The manager was very apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine and snacks for the inconvenience. Appreciate the effort but it was 2 buck chuck and i dont like headaches. Aside from that the property is cute, very close to the beach, nice location, quiet. Fireplace was nice and very cozy. We got a king room and it was pretty small. The toilet stopped working at some point in the evening and flusher was broken. This made the rest of the stay unenjoyable tbh. Not being able to flush and use the bathroom as needed made us want to leave. We checked out super early. Didnt want to go through the hastle of having someone fix the toilet at 8pm so we just dealt. Likely wont stay there again. The experience for that price point was not worth it sadly. "
