If you plan to do a canal tour, definitely plan to do this through the hotel’s boat, The Tourist, which boasts a historical link to Winston Churchill. "Tiny room with a massive shower. Very comfortable bed and the room was both modern and clean. Extremely small space (you climb onto the bed from the bottom only and there is enough space for the door tomorrow and you need to move around it to enter) so more recommended for solo travellers. Location not central but easy enough to get to central within 30min walking and using ferry. "
