「This is a great property if you wish to explore the south side of the island, or if you have your own vehicle. Unfortunately it is NOT 2.5 miles from the airport or the cruise ship port. It is on the opposite side of the island, Depending on traffic, a 90 - 150 minute drive. $115 taxi drive. You can get a 3 day tourist bus pass for 1 franc (a bus ride is 4 francs) but the busses stop running at 4:00 local time. The closest grocery store (outstanding selection of fresh fruit & veggies, meats, and...

「Staff was very nice and helpful. Everything was very clean and well maintained. You have to get the hair dryer from the front desk. But there was no electrical outlet in the bathroom. Bed was comfortable; pillows not so much. Room was quiet. Breakfast was ok. No cream or non-dairy creamer, or artificial sweeteners available for coffee. Be aware that the car ride from the airport is $2000 francs, even though the hotel is across the street. But, we didn't see an easy, or safe way to walk there....

「The Teahupo’o surf break is basically directly out front (off-shore at the reef, of course) but water taxis are right at the shore by the front gate of pension so the location could not be better from that POV. It’s a short walk (5 minutes) on a nice beach path from the Teahupo’o photo wave spot and Olympic rings, or you can drive to the pension and park but only if you’ve got a vehicle capable of river-crossing - so that adds to the charm of the place as well. The pension is quite nice, super...

「We very much enjoyed our stay at Fare Arihau Vairoo. The room was lovely and comfortable. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming and took care of us as though we were family. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. All the food was prepared by our host from local ingredients mostly grown in their own garden. All the food was exceptional and the service, some from our hosts little girls, was delightful.」

「The resort was nice, but the service was just average. Very little eye contact, Front Desk staff spent most of the time on the phone without acknowledging people waiting in front of them. Housekeeping staff was very pleasant! Even what looked like Senior Management walked by without acknowledging anyone. I realize it's an independent hotel now, not a Sofitel, but service could use some attention!」
