"I thought I would try a more up-scale hotel than usual on this trip to Montreal, but on the whole I was disappointed. (1) check-in: I arrived at 5pm and I was told my room was ready, but I'd have to wait while it was "verified" -- that took 10-15 minutes, which was OK, but not my idea of luxury. (2) room: large, but a bit worn. The front legs were missing from the mini-fridge. One of the upholstered chairs smelled faintly of vomit when I sat in it. The bed was comfortable. (3) check-out: there was a line to check out at 6am. Unpleasant surprise: a $20-per-night "destination fee" was due on checkout, in addition to the advertised rate. I see it is disclosed in the fine print at the time of booking; however, since it is not optional (unlike parking, or a late checkout charge) I would expect it to be part of what expedia quotes as the total."

"When I booked the hotel through Expedia, I selected the “pay on arrival” option. However, the hotel charged me for the first night, the day before my arrival. I attempted to contact the front desk multiple times—over five calls—and was hung up on at least four times before someone finally answered. When I asked why my calls were not being answered and why I had been disconnected, the response I received was dismissive and unprofessional. On the day of my checkout, I also questioned why I received an email instructing me to go to the front desk to settle my bill, even though I had already paid upon check-in and provided a $150 deposit, which had not been disclosed at the time of booking. I was told that I did not owe anything and that the message is automatically sent to all guests. This explanation was confusing and unnecessary. Overall, I found the level of customer service extremely poor. The room was acceptable overall, but somewhat dusty—particularly around the TV. I also noticed in the bathroom a buildup of calcium on the showerhead, which was unpleasant. When I arrived on May 1st at around 11:30 p.m., I noticed a police car and an ambulance on-site. The following day, there was another police presence, and on the night of May 2 to May 3, I observed three police cars. This repeated activity raised concerns and led me to question why emergency services were being called to this location so frequently. Great service and food from the hotel restaurant."

"Check-in was smooth and quick. They helped with our bags and valet took the car. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Lobby is a little small, so can feel crowded during certain parts of the day, but were able to get in and out easily. La Mezz restaurant on Mezzanine offers continental breakfast daily, however we opted to hit the Starbucks across the street. We did do dinner at hotel twice and food was fantastic both times. Hats off to Simon for his service! Most shops were walkable from hotel. Our room faced the main road, yet it was relatively quiet. Didn't hear a lot of traffic noise. Would definitely stay here again."
