Magens Bay Beach Tours

Magens Bay showing a bay or harbor
Appreciate the excellent views of hilly forests as you meander along a scenic trail on your way to this haven of white sand and inviting water.

The sublime Magens Bay is often considered the best of the spectacular beaches on the island of St. Thomas. Its stretch of white sand runs for 4,000 feet (1.2 kilometers), encompassing views of the undulating green hills and palm trees surrounding it.

Swim with your family in the warm water, which is particularly calm in summer due to the northwestern exposure. Spot turtles, conch and other marine creatures in the clear ocean. Watch fisherman patiently awaiting their catch in the boats at the eastern end of the beach.

Purchase food and drinks from the snack counter and browse the items for sale in the souvenir shop. Relax at a table on the sand and enjoy lunch at the beach restaurant with an excellent view of the water. Make the most of the sunny, hot weather and work on your tan.

The beach has many amenities, including restrooms, showers and lifeguard patrols. Reserve deckchairs, floats and lockers for a comfortable afternoon here. Rent masks, snorkels and fins to delve below the ocean surface in search of aquatic life.

Stroll along the beach and capture photos of the picturesque hilly environs, including Tropaco Point and Outer Brass. Wander through the coconut grove, the mangrove and the small forest. A designated trail meanders through the thick vegetation in the hills. Note that the stunning scenery of the beach has led to it featuring in movies, including part of the Twilight saga.

There is a fee to access the beach, which is open year-round. Locals pay half price.

Magens Bay is on the northern coast of the island of St. Thomas. Drive northeast for around 30 minutes from the Cyril E. King Airport to reach the bay. Leave your car in the parking lot or take a taxi from the ferry terminal. Nearby attractions include the Mahogany Run Golf Course and the Drake’s Seat viewpoint.

We went with our 2 teen boys. We had a rental car and paid $5/adult, kids are free. The beach itself is nice and clean with crystal clear, warm waters. We bought our own snorkel gear (or you can rent at the shop) and snorkeled on both sides of the bay and saw sea turtles, lots of sand fish, tarpin, tropical fish, pelicans. Lunch and drinks are offered in a combined casual open aired restaurant/bar. I had the special of the day, chicken BBQ which was delicious. It was not crowded when we went and we easily found picnic tables. This bay is so beautiful, we're glad we went.

A very, very long beautiful beach...but it costs $ 10.00 a person now to enter on top of the $10.00 taxi fare to and from your resort.

We took a taxi ride to Magens Bay beach and rented lounge chairs and an umbrella for $20. There is a restaurant and bar plus a shop with all kinds of beach items. The water is very calm, which would be good for kids. It is beautiful. Overall it was a very relaxing day.
