We wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is not only in a beautiful location right by the river, but the hotel is charming and the staff are some of the most kind and attentive people we have met on this trip so far. Will definitely keep them in mind for our next trip.
very quiet and serene. The facility was little outdated, but very clean and the staffs were super kind. and their food at the restaurant was wonderful for the price. I would highly recommend if you want to stay in quiet side of Kyoto.
The Ranzan Hotel is located in a great walkable section of Kyoto. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is clean, but the bathroom fixtures are dated. The air conditioner had a hard time keeping the room cool during the heatwave.
Lovely hotel in the heart of Arashiyama with spectacular views and peaceful surroundings. Its a few minutes walk away from the local lines and around 10 minutes from the JR line, both which take about 20 minutes to get to Kyoto. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a break away from the busy atmosphere in the main cities

It is a good location to feel countryside of Japan. The streets and houses around hotel were very cute. It was traditional Japanese style hotel but it was out dated. If you are a morning coffee drinker, this is not a good place. No coffee machine, no 7-11 around. Staffs were friendly.
The hotel was in a good location and within walking distance of the Arashiyama main street and the Bumboo forest.
The Japanese courtyard was clean and maintained. Japanese maples would be so beautiful in Autumn.
All the staff are helpful and kind.
The Kyoto Ranzan is a fantastic place to stay in Arashiyama. It is tucked away from the tourist buzz but just next to the river, the Arashiyama park, the Tenryu-ji temple, the bamboo grove and the monkey park. The room was pleasant and had everything that you need. The food was varied, elegant and delectable. The bath was a pleasure. Very helpful staff as well. Highly recommended
Very good meal provided and close to the bamboo forest. We will return again. I hope the hotel will provide clean shower curtain next time. Our shower curtain had some mould.
The hotel is located at the edge of Arashiyama park, so super convenient and walkable to the river band, the park observation point, the Seiryiji temple and bamboo forest, as well as the down town shopping/dinning area, yet, it is also sitting at a pretty quiet location. You can also walk cross the Togetsukyō bridge to the other side for the Monkey park, etc.
The hotel room is very spacious, also offer hot spring pools for both female and male.
The taxi ride from train station is not bad either.
With all the items we loved as tourists, we would definitely recommend it to our friends.
Thanks.
I loved the niche area that it lied in as I was surrounded by so much nature and beauty. It is the perfect area to stay in Kyoto if you want to be surrounded by peace. Especially in the evening/night.

The place is quite old but in walkable distance to 渡月橋which is good.
Perfect contrast from the bustle of Tokyo and Osaka! But, this also means not much is open close by so need to walk a bit for dinner. Phone said we got almost 30k steps after wandering the bamboo forest, monkey park, temples, etc.
