"Room furnishings are very dated and in a state of disrepair e.g. stained carpets, furniture drawers wonky and not closing properly, door handles coming off, the list is endless! I had to request a change of room which was slightly better and the in-room safe didn’t work. And when explaining this to staff I was asked what colour the safe was and was then met with an ‘ah, ok’, as if they expected it not to be working from the colour it was, remarkable! Evening meal was no better than supermarket style frozen food, breakfast buffet was ok. This hotel was never in this state of disrepair when I last stayed a number of years ago under the previous owners, it badly needs updating and I would avoid until it has been. "

"On arrival staff member (or manager) appeared complacent and somewhat uninterested. Did not show us to the room, although easy to find (not accessible for anyone with a disability - two flights of stairs - not lift). Room was spacious for two. Given it was an old-ish annexe part of the main building the windows were draughty even with what seemed like outdated secondary glazing that barely closed (room 4). However, if you come by vehicle vans use the front car park opposite the pub/hotel (2 car parks available-front & rear), then this room allows you to keep a keen eye. Also a CCS & ChadEmo charger (Osprey) in car park. Back to the room and en-suite was clean but oh my days, the noise when running the sink tap (which was loose and required tightening) and flushing the toilet! It was akin to the sound of a macerated or pump. Very loud and not something you could use early morning for fear of waking other guests up (or your partner). Small built-in wardrobe enough for several hanging garments. TV and hair dryer supplied and basic tea/coffee supplies with kettle (unused). Bed appeared to be Queen size, which was surprisingly comfortable and spacious with adequate duvet cotton cover. Carpet was stained in patches but not immediately obvious so not heavily soiled, just old. Access and egress of the building was via a dedicated ‘fire escape door’ unless during opening hours and then you could do so via the main entrance."

"I paid for a family room as it was my wife and my son travelling for a football tournament. I paid around about £192 for the room for one evening. When we got into the room, there were no lamps or bedside table lamps. I asked at reception if we could get a lamp, as I like to read at night before I go to bed, and was told the only light available was the ceiling lights. They did not have any spare. I can't believe a hotel does not have table lamps or bed lamps, or that they could not accommodate me. I had to go and buy one from Tesco for the night, which was very disappointing. I have never in all my years been to a hotel where they do not have table or reading lights, and we have to rely upon using the large light in the ceiling. "
