"I enjoyed my stay and felt for solo travelers it was almost perfect. The only con I had was that it’s located directly across from a sewage center and in the afternoons the hallways smelled like rotten sewage when walking to your room, but once inside it was okay. They made sure to bring fresh towels and linens daily which was great! The onsen is heavenly! The convenience store is 24/7 and so helpful for those late night cravings. 7-11 is a 5 minute walk up the street and the train is also only a 5 minute walk. There is a money exchange machine onsite which is very convenient. The breakfast buffet is great if you like seafood. Me personally I couldn’t really enjoy it do to my allergies but they offer lots of different options. The staff were friendly. Overall I would highly recommend staying here and would stay again."

"We spent 1 week in Tabi Ueno and it was the best experience so far! The staff that greeted us was very kind and explained everything. The rooms feel luxurious, lots of space and places to store your clothes and other items. They kindly ask you to remove the shoes inside the room and it truly feels like a modern Japanese home. Rooms are very spacious, we were on a moon room and we felt really good. AC works well, amenities are top notch, the slippers in the room were so comfy after walking all day. What we loved the most was the shampoo and other washing supplies, they smelled good. Outside there is a 7-eleven nearby which was my daily driver. Some Notes I have: - The area is more of a working people area, I saw a lot of people in the area walking towards a building around 8-9 and the same at 5-6, there is a very nice area with food nearby. - Sending luggage to another hotel is kind of hard, we couldn't sent our luggage to Kyoto through Yamato, we had to walk to the Yamato nearby and send it to another Yamato store which made logistics a little bit harder, it would be great if they found a way to work with Yamato for this. In general everything was great and we loved our stay, if we have the chance to come back we would love to stay in there again."

"This is a unique property. This hotel is located in the heart of the bustling Ameyoko area of Ueno. So very conveniently positioned to major train stations and Ueno Park, food and shopping; for that it’s a gem! The staff interaction I had was only at check in and out, but they were very friendly, welcoming and enthusiastically pleasant. When I booked, I had no idea that there were two buildings, the main one and one directly across the walking street known as the annex. Unfortunately, we were in the annex which made us not want to make the trek across the public walking street to the main building to use the public bath, so we never did use or experience it, which was one of the amenities I’d hoped to make use of - same for the laundry facilities. I booked a 3-person room. It was a VERY tight space. Plus’s: Bathroom VERY clean, heated toilet seat with bidet, bright white fluffy towels, crisp white comfortable sheets and duvet, lots of free convenient amenities available in the lobby, large soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the bathroom, very mini fridge, location, location, location! Minuses: cramped quarters with no place to put clothing (4 hangers on a small rail were provided) or have luggage open, carpet drapes and future are worn and dated, one bed was very firm (top bunk), one bed softer and dipped. If you’re looking for a well-priced, great location “travelers” style hotel, this is it! If you need more space and aesthetics, this may not be it."
