Loved the onsen and amenities. There’s no washer so have enough clothes for the stay. We stayed 2 nights and we want to go again. The location was close to the train station and convenient stores, and a few step from the shopping street
Wonderful Royakan. Rooms very clean. Staff were friendly or very accommodating. The food was excellent. We had breakfast and dinner for our 2 night stay. Would love to go back. The grounds were beautiful.
Absolutely lovely staff and service! Enjoyed the experience and the traditional Japanese breakfast/dinner! The rooms were impeccably clean, and the view was gorgeous.
so it's a typical ryokan, we've been to a few. A little bit older, a little faded, but nice.
One thing for westerners to be aware of, the food is not toned down for tourists. This is real traditional Japanese food. A lot of it has that pronounced funky fish taste ( i love fish, but this is different). And breakfast is the same, we passed on bfast the 2nd day. Too much for my western stomach.
Overall, our experience was good. Our first night was wonderful- we were met with friendly staff and the dinner experience was wonderful. The food was good and each portion of the meal was explained and were presented in a beautiful manner. Although the second night’s dinner was not like the first night - we discussed it with the hotel management team and feel they are going to make every effort to ensure other guests will have a memorable experience throughout their stay. Disappointed that we couldn’t stay for breakfast the next day due to an early checkout to continue our itinerary.
This was our second stay (our last time was 20 years ago!) and we had a wonderful time. The place is maintained well, the facilities are clean, the breakfast and dinner were tasty, and the hot springs were excellent. The staff members were all very helpful and responsive too. We highly recommend this ryokan, which is conveniently located a short walking distance from Hakone Yumoto station.
Wonderful stay, the staff were very attentive and the onsen beautiful and very well kept and relaxing. The town is worth visiting. Definitely a highlight in our trip.
Very nice tatami room, simple with 2 low chairs to sit at. Lovely view of the river. Onsen on the 6 floor was a great experience with the outdoor tubs. Dining times were a little early for us at 5:30 or 6:30, traditional Japanese food beautifully presented. A good value stay
Great location in Hakone. Get the room with your own onsen it is worth every penny. Staff is so accomodating and Gabriel was outstanding. Massues was great as well.
This place was great for the most part. It’s definitely a bit on the older side of things, but with that comes a particular charm. The room was amazing. Spacious, with its own gorgeous Onsen. No real air condition controls other that an analog “low, mid, high” toggle. The beds were very firm, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
The included kaiseki meals were spectacular. If you’re looking for a bread, eggs, bacon type breakfast this is not a place for you. If you want to experience the traditional Japanese meals, I couldn’t have been more pleased. In addition, there is a fantastic room service menu after 4pm.
The common areas are well maintained. The public onsens are pristine. Location is amazing.
The service was impeccable, as one expects from Japan. Everyone was kind, helpful, and respectful.
The biggest issue I had was the smell of the hallway outside our room (3rd floor). It had a constant smell of food. It was a little overwhelming, but did not carry into the room.
All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for
People looking for a traditional Hakone Onsen experience. I do believe the hotel could highly benefit from a remodel. It has the potential of being absolutely spectacular.

Family-friendly property but definitely a bit dated. The elevators had a funky smell. The living space was huge and the in-room bottomless beer amenity was pretty cool. Overall, it wasn’t bad for a short weekend trip to Hakone.
The hotel is in a good location which close to the station and Tokyo’s center. The service is good, staff is friendly and support. I’m comfortable to stay here in a short trip at Tokyo.
The package included the dinner and breakfast (Kaiseki style), the foods are delicious and served very well. The front desk staff explains very detailed about the facilities.
Good onsen ryokan. Service and the onsens were amazing. The kaiseki dinner was traditional and good, but wouldn’t say it was exceptional. Area near the ryokan is very picturesque and nice to roam around

Customer service is wonderful, meals are fantastic with traditional Japanese experience. I only hope our room is in better condition as the property itself is quite old.
Absolutely stunning hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and extremely attentive. They represent the hotel very well. We stayed in one of the rooms with a private onsen and the view of the mountains and the river below was wonderful, very peaceful. The room included in room dinner and breakfast service and this was such an amazing treat. Our guest assistant was excellent, she seemed to be so happy and enthusiastic to serve all the time. At one point, I had been playing with the coffee machine, trying to rescue a pod that didn't quite work and she noticed me doing this even while she was clearing up breakfast and came and made me a coffee completely on her own initiative. The food was so delicious and fresh and beautifully presented. In everything we felt thoroughly spoilt. It was a wonderful 2 night stay.
It was such a romantic place loved every single minute of it. Very comfortable. Food was great, Our private onsen was so relaxing And even though we had a rainy day, it was nice just hanging around in our room and enjoying onsen
