The Gion Matsuri Festival is Japans most famous festival. Musicians sit in huge floats that are pushed/dragged around town in Kyoto while the musicians play their flutes. There are two types of floats in The Gion Matsuri Parade, Yama and Hoko. There are 23 Yama and 10 Hoko. The Hoko floats can be up to 25 meters tall and weigh up to 12 tons.

"The staff at this property were so helpful from the minute we came in. The hotel staff member who helped us in English and was very friendly. He assisted us with luggages, and let us know of all the great amenities the hotel included, like coin laundry, free drinks in the lobby, and so much more. The property as soon as you come in smells amazing. Overall. I believe this property was my favorite stay in Japan. I could definitely see us staying there again. And they also do luggage transfers which is very convenient!"

"Outstanding breakfast - worth the money. Very friendly staff. Zen public bath. Convenient location for seeing Kyoto and surrounding. It gets busy after 8 am on weekend. "

The location is excellent—only a 15–25 minute walk to Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace, and the Gion area. It’s also very easy to reach from Kyoto Station via public transport, with several stations nearby. • Breakfast: A massive buffet with an impressive variety of choices. • Perks: 24-hour complimentary coffee and juice, plus coupons for local gifts/presents. • Accessibility: Great base for exploring the city on foot or by train."
