What a great find! Loved the stunning and harmonious design of this property, the cleanliness and the service. The breakfasts were pretty generous in span and nicely displayed. Overall I loved the property.

I give 5 stars to all ratings parameters. It can be a SIX star hotel. One of the best Ritz Carlton in the world. Luxury modern amenities with preserved japanese culture , that permeates into hotel service, hotel decor and ambience. It transports you to an luxury escape from the daily routine! It wakes up all 5 senses! The hotel MIZUKA restaurant transcends the japanese food to a new level and experience, worthy of Michelin star recognition!

This was our first stay at a rhyokan (spelling!)and we were blown away by the beauty, The comfort (personally I felt sleeping on tatami mats on a futon perfect). The attentive service was welcoming and spot on.
We ate breakfast and dinner here and the local food was abundant, gorgeously presented and flavorful.
We had a room with a private Onsen on a deck. Highly recommend.
This was a unique, peak experience and I am a seasoned traveler. Do it.

A wonderful, new hotel in Nara. One of the few high-end hotels there, competing against Nara Hotel. In contrast to the stodgy competitor, JW Marriott is very modern with traditional Japanese aesthetic.

Quick breakdown, I only had one week to book a hotel and I was looking for a true Japanese B&B.
Staff was amazing and very nice.
Location is 10 minutes (car ride) from JR station. When you get to the station, ask the person in the station to call for your hotel ride. DO NOT attempt to go up that hill with luggage. There is not a walkway. The transport to and from hotel is included in price.
Hotel grounds are large, you can tell that this place used to be very popular.

Everything about the Rhino Hotel was seemingly so unsettling underrated by many reviewers that it received only a 2-star rating on the online websites. The amenities such as the gym has a an open studio schedule open to the general public also, offering daily group classes and activities weekly. The gym + spa areas for hotel guests are highly recommended, with a full range of aerobic fitness machines available, free weights, to fitness equipment. The swimming pool is also a great option for...

Amazing hotel that will treat you like royalty. The food is first-class. It is definitely out of the way from the fray. Shuttle will take you to/from the train station. Used a cab twice to get back to hotel as you cannot walk to the hotel. Wish they had a gym. The penthouse suite view and amenities were phenomenal. Would recommend to anyone visiting Nara and wanting a relaxing stay.

They are renovating this wonderful gem to celebrate its 130th anniversary in 2020 to coincide with the Olympics. I was lucky to stay in a room newly renovated and it was wonderfully beautiful right down to the state of the art Toto bathroom fixtures.
