「The Market Tavern is a little gem and a very welcome find! Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, nice room and bar / restaurant. The star of the show is the food which was superb. A small menu but this means everything is good quality. Prices are reasonable - and worth every penny. With many restaurants now asking £35-45 for a steak, my steak at the Market Tavern was just £24. Ok, it wasn't a fillet or a rib-eye, it was a rump (a so called inferior cut!) But the chef here knows that it's about...

「The property was well positioned. The Cotswolds are BUSY, so it was great to have somewhere to stay out of the busyness. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was a great size (room 2). No aircon which was an issue in the latest heatwave. The staff did try to help by putting a fan in the room. We used the restaurant for dinner and there was a wide selection of choices. This can also be said about breakfast.」

「Well positioned a short way up a small hill. Nice tasty meals. However the outside of the shower tray needed a deep clean and our room only had a skylight window which resulted in it being very warm, even at night, in the high temperatures.」

「The Bell Inn was gorgeous it would have received a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for the staffing issues. Housekeeping had failed to turn up that day and they hadn’t realised until nearly checking time so we never got into our room until 5.45. The staff dealt with this delay professionally and we were served with complimentary drinks. This caused us a bit of an issue as we had to leave at 6.15 for a meal elsewhere. Would definitely stay here again if in this area.」

However the moment we checked in we went to the spa where the cryotherapy was broken and we couldn’t order any refreshments as the lady said she couldn’t leave her post. We waited for over an hour and half for dinner and there was no advice on things to do on activities.」

「The first room we were given was joined to a faulty and extremely noisy water pump, which kept us awake every hour during the first night. We had a wedding to go to the next day and obviously wanted to look our best, not tired pale and wizzened. Thankfully, we were moved to another room far enough away, to not hear the pump. Located a bit away from the city centre, the hotel's deco, ambience and service were comparable to a 5-star hotel. We were particularly impressed by the service of Ali, proactive, considerate and detailed to meet our needs, even the unspoken. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and found them enjoyable. 」
