"They gave me a late checkout (2 hours extension) for no additional charge. Staff tried to talk in English with me, and was very helpful. Breakfast was amazing also, and very cheap! The room is very spacious. Some things seem a bit old, and the red light in the bathroom did not work. But it was a nice stay, would probably do it again in the future!"
"Amazing location, amenities, free perks, we even have our very own maiko show with free drinks, and the owners were very nice and happy to help with any questions. "
"This is a very nice and clean accommodation! I stayed just one person for 3 nights. Owner is friendly, helpful, and kind! Close to major bus routes. Shower and bathroom were clean and easily accessible. Great guest house, i enjoyed my stay!"

"We enjoyed our stay. Our room was large and thankfully air conditioned!!!! Only thing that would have made it perfect would have been a microwave in the room (for those quick 7/11 meal nights)."
Kyoto Nanzenji Garden Ryokan Yachiyo Established in 1915
10/10 Excellent
"I absolutely loved this ryokan--it was the wonderful Japanese experience I hoped for--futons, slippers, kimonos, tatami mats!! The dining was exceptional--many unique, artistically presented small plates; overlooking a lovely garden; tatami mats at low tables (although there were other options). Although the immediate neighborhood was nothing special, it is just down the road from the south end of Philosopher's Walk. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is it!! If you're looking for a modern, perfectly maintained and up-to-date hotel with Western beds and large bathrooms (the bathrooms are TINY) and amenities, this is not that. (There is a small couch in the room for those who get tired of sleeping and eating and sitting on the floor.)"
"Modern & clean building, helpful and friendly staff. The best location. Central to everything. Have to pay 1000 yen for the pool, spa, & sauna but worth every penny. Would have stayed longer in this hotel if I knew how great this place was."
"This place was amazing to stay! Great location and wonderful service! One of the men that worked up at the lobby desk from Nepal had helped us tremendously especially with the taxi cab driver to help us get to the train station since we barely spoke any Japanese. He is exceptional! The kaseike was so delicious!
I highly recommend this did anyone! "
"The staff treated us like VIP the moment we got out of the taxi and checked in. The check-in staff served us matcha and very fresh mochi confectionaries.
The concierge, Yumi, in particular, went above and beyond to help us arrange our bullet train transportation after our stay to make our upcoming journey as seamless as possible. We could not be more grateful for her assistance.
Our Grand Serenity room was beautiful. We appreciated the additional treats that were provided during turn down service. We also loved the essential oil selections to enhance the smell of our room. The bed in our room was the most comfortable we had on our 2 week trip in Asia. My husband and I felt like we were in zen heaven during our entire stay. The complimentary Japanese kaiseki breakfast at the onsite restaurant Ryozen was also a treat! "
