The hotel felt more like a guest house, very clean and well stocked with good signage on how to use everything. Fantastic location, i wish we had booked more days.
Wonderful hotel. Great location, lovely rooms, self check in is such an easy and wonderful way to operate. One of my favorite hotels in Japan. Will be back again. Can’t recommend enough.
Very nice quiet hotel that is big with good aurrounding ammenities. Would stay again! (No staff at this hotel its self check in so staff area not ranked)
This hotel is great! It was super clean and spacious. The bed was really comfortable, and the matching pajamas were a nice touch. We loved staying here. It was a peaceful break during a hectic three week trip.
I really enjoyed my stay here in September. The staff were nice and helpful. Although they did not allow us to check in early, they did hold our luggage there until it was time. The hotel is very close to the Kyoto train station and other bus stops. The complimentary matcha, ice cream and noodles were great! We did buy the breakfast package which I enjoyed because it was one less thing I had to research. I wish I had stayed here my entire trip and taken trains to the other cities because it so nice to come back and use the massage chairs and use the hot springs after a long day. The rooms are a little dated and small but I didn’t mind it at all. The pillows were hard and uncomfortable so maybe pack your own? Not a big deal though. I loved my stay here and would go back!
This property was self-checkin which was very convenient for us because we arrived from Kyoto fairly late at night. Although we were unable to leave our backpacks at the hotel (there was no onsight staff available for security), we conveniently stored all of bags at the station nearby for only a few US dollars while we walked around town and visited all the sites.
Also, checkin and checkout was very easy using a pin provided by the host after we uploaded our travel documents to access the building and to enter the room. We had no trouble locating the property and letting ourselves inside both the building and our room. Also, this was the only location that provided complimentary hot coffee - all other places we stayed offered complimentary tea, which is nice, but we certainly enjoyed a cup of hot coffee for variety.
Close to train station and Todaiji this property has good access to popular areas. The room was clean but the air conditioning unit was so dusty it wasn’t working. Luckily I live in Japan and know how to clean the filter or we would have been very cold.
This hotel has no staff. A day before checking in, we received an email with a code for the building door, and one for our room door. It was snowing when we arrived, and because the place is unstaffed, the room was really cold. It took several hours to warm it (yes, we also had to clean the dirty heating filter, as other reviews recommended, and translate the remote control to know which button to press because it was not intuitive). The place itself is OK, way bigger than a normal hotel room. It has a mini kitchen area. It's probably great for people who come for a week and don't mind the loneliness of the place. It's located in a narrow street, very quiet, there are no restaurants, it's residential. With the snow, the night, the silence, it was a bit eerie. That said, the bathroom was amazing, the room was large and the bed comfy. We booked it for two nights but we moved to another hotel after the first night. It was too isolated for us.
Very close to Todai-ji Temple. Front desk is unmanned but hotel is very easy to use and check in and check out is a breeze. Consider taking bus/taxi from Nara Station as the walk is a little far and uphill but absolutely worth it.
