Tucked in the Litchfield Hills, this charming village inspired the fictional Stars Hollow from 'Gilmore Girls.' Hike the Steep Rock Preserve's trails before browsing local shops and dining at the cozy GW Tavern.

Hidden Valley Preserve was a nice surprise. Only been there a couple times but found it had a lot to offer-lots of critters (frogs, fish, snakes, turtles, birds), a suspension bridge over the brook, easy to more challenging trails. The best part was the old quartz mine, that was in use from 1800-1915. The trail becomes a sparkling white, a mix of fairytale and snow storm.
