Wat Phra Si Sanphet
Temple Views | Wat Pra Si Sanphet: One of the most beautiful sites in Ayutthaya and the holiest temple in Thailand’s ancient capital is Wat Pra Si Sanphet, also known as the Temple of the Holy, Splendid Omniscient. Built in 1351, it served as the temple of the royal family and no monks lived there as it was used exclusively for royal ceremonies. The most prominent structures on the site are the three Chedis which were destroyed along with the rest of the temple when the Burmese invaded in 1767. Restoration work begun in 1956, however only the three Chedis were restored. Without a doubt being built for a King, nothing was spared when it came to the beauty of this temple complex. By all means if you make it to Ayutthaya don’t miss visiting this temple, it’s absolutely wonderful!
