I booked a luxury single room. Nothing luxury about it but fairly clean. Windows don’t work properly, old furniture and mattress. Building smells like food. Neighborhood is bad for single women.

As long as you understand the fact that it's a simple, single room with a shared bathroom and nothing else, you should definitely be happy with the experience. The staff at the front desk are as nice as can be and the overall experience was better than I expected.

My go to for San Fran exploring on a budget. Very accommodating staff and the area is prime for local food and attractions. I was on and off trains and buses to explore on my work down days and everything I needed to do and get was within walking distance.

$50 a night in the city is a life saver

10x better than you might expect. Clean room and shared bathroom, friendly check-in. The neighborhood is ... not good, but this feels completely different from the inside. For the price, it can't be beat.

Union Hotel is in the heart of the Mission. The area around it is a little rough, but the hotel is safe, clean and quiet. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and this is the best spot I’ve found in the city for affordable rooms.
