This was worse than I expected, and given the low price, I wasn’t expecting much. It was small and shabby, with a shared bathroom and holes in the door from where the deadbolts had been repeatedly broken out. But what bothered me was the street noise. The homeless people on the street right outside the window were loud, viol vulgar, and profane until the wee hours of the morning. Even with the window shut (and there was no A/C) it was hard to sleep over the racket. Felt a little unsafe, even as an adult man coming and going during daylight hours. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The Indian gentlemen who run this hotel go above and beyond to help out I am a disabled senior and couldnt have been treater better. My nahhage was carried up the elevator to my room The linens were fresh and the tile bathrooms My baggage was cheerfully carried to my room since I am a disabled senior. As for the comments about the noise and homeless on the street? get earplugs- this is the Tenderloin and enjoy the ambience since you are saving a lot of money. Highly recommended for adventurous travelers who appreciate historical buildings

Everything is horrible, ugly and unsecured. This is way worse than the description mentioned in the site. I am wondering why at all Expedia lists such horrendous properties in its site. To be honest I never had stayed in such a place not even seen before. No basic amenities and no attention. Highly risky stay. Cursing myself for choosing such a deceptive place.

The photos of the Riviera Hotel didn’t match the room I was given. In fact I was assigned a dorm room (for $76), which wasn’t I purchased. I will pursue this with Expedia.

Did not stay!!!! Area was so gross and sketchy. Room was on 4th floor and had a shared bathroom with 8 other rooms. Tried to collect cash upon arrival even though already paid by card.

Great, safe walking neighborhood in The Marina. Convenient to jogging, restaurants, Pilates. Spin, short rides by uber to downtown and public transportation. Clean!! Comfortable, safe in room, closet, towels, soaps, etc what you expect at a hotel, no frills, great price. Will stay here again

Do not stay here unless you have no other choice. One of the worst experiences from all the hotel stays in 2025. Probably better camping outside or in your car then staying here.

It’s in the tenderloin of sf so prepare for that. The rooms are cold and make sure to ask for a towel. For the cost maybe worth it but wow that neighborhood is beyond noisy.

Dear Orbitz, this hotel didn’t have a heater at the time we checked in 2:30am, also in front of Rivera Hotel there were so many homeless people sleeping, such a scary neighborhood and unsafe location, I called Orbitz at 8am, and Orbitz agent said you can check out the hotel and Orbitz will refund my money, I did not see the refund in my account and I had to call Orbitz again, and the agent refunded only $115, I am very frustrated at Orbitz as to why they accept these hotels in their system and even though I checked out, why I am not getting my full refund??! I have been with Orbitz over 30 years, and don’t understand why I get treated like this?!

Walking to and from this place even during broad daylight is frightening. Lots of druggies. Room was small. Shared bathroom. No heat. Extremely loud. The manager was conveniently never there. The absolute worst stay in my entire life. Zero stars.
