"What an amazing resort! We had a swim out king in building 4 which was perfect distance from heavy traffic paths to give us privacy when using the semi private pool out the back patio. Close to the ocean without being the closest building which everyone can see into. I loved that you could order housekeeping in the app so we could leave in the morning and not be bothered by the time we wanted to go back to our room in the afternoon. They would have it cleaned within 2 hours of us making the request. The restaurants were wonderful! Upon arrival I would suggest booking a hibachi grill so you don't miss out! Otherwise the French and Italian locations were also amazing and no long waits for tables. Bring bug spray! The sunscreen and bug spray run about 30 US dollars at the resort. Room service takes 30 minutes on average and my only complaint was the pizza. It was my fault ordering two different menu items. If I had only ordered the pizza I want to believe it would have arrived faster and been less soggy. The staff was incredibly and I really enjoyed the volleyball on the beach! Great sport coordinators putting these together every day! Will definitely be back!"

"I have been coming to this resort for couple of years in a row, with family or friends. Anytime we went the property has always been well maintained, outdoor pool(s) always clean, and the cleaning ladies always did a nice job cleaning our room. I’ll give a special shoutout to Alfredo (colonial side pool bar) who always served us yummy drinks and was super friendly! Also a special shoutout to Guadalupe (server at the buffet colonial/tropical), super nice, very professional, very attentive! She should be teaching other servers how to do their job; those who did bare minimum and didn’t anything until we left the buffet. Restaurants were really good and had food that we liked and enjoyed; personally we never left a restaurant hungry. Our recommendation is to try out the French restaurant at Barcelo Maya Palace. To add on about the buffet, food has definitely changed throughout the years. Before they had every night different country/culture food and now it’s plain same stuff every night (should bring back the classic). And the beach isn’t sandy. It’s like walking on white color cement. Water is full of rocks and hard to swim without hurting your feet and definitely needs to be cleaned out a bit. Otherwise good fun trip!"

"This property is like visiting a postcard in real life super lovely staff, amazing wildlife, and a great location! They will try to pitch you on becoming a "member". The international buffet was okay but the restaurants when we could get reservations were delicious. Highly recommend getting the extra xcrate add-on and visiting the park and seeing the show. Overall a dream vacation."
