We had a wonderful family vacation at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. Excellent food (especially Cocina de Autor, Frida, and Piaf) and beautiful property. We highly recommend spending time at the Zen pool - a really magical, relaxing spot. The staff were all really wonderful, friendly, and helpful. All 3 of our kids - ranging from age 4 to age 14 - had a great time. We would certainly come back again!!

Food was amazing; service was really good but tips get out of control with the need to sign bills for 'invenrory purposes' everytime you have a drink at the pool. The beach had a ton of seaweed and the water was rocky, which was a huge downer. The kids club was being rebuilt (no arcade) and the coffee shop could use more snacking options and ice cream flavors. Overall, I don't think it's worth the price

From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the amazing staff—so warm, welcoming, and attentive at every step. A special shout-out to our Personal Concierge, Viridiana Guillen, who made our stay absolutely seamless. She went above and beyond for our family, making sure we had everything we needed—especially for our little ones. She checked in regularly, helped us plan activities, and always made us feel cared for. Her attentiveness with both us and our toddlers was incredibly heartwarming. The cleanliness of the resort was top-notch—everything was spotless, which gave us so much peace of mind with small children in tow. The resort is also incredibly family-friendly, with thoughtful amenities like high chairs, cribs, toddler-friendly activities, and staff who never made us feel uncomfortable about the chaos that sometimes comes with little kids. One restaurant that truly stood out was Azul. While every restaurant offered delicious food and a great variety of cuisines, the service at Azul was exceptional. We were so impressed by Antonio Cauich Chi, Michelle Espino, and Chef Miguel Leon—they made every dining experience memorable. They were kind, welcoming, and made sure we felt comfortable even when our toddlers made a mess. Their hospitality was genuine and truly appreciated.

Our favorite resort in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area. It is indeed a five star hotel. The service is excellent, the rooms are great, the dining options are fantastic. The beach and pools are wonderful.

Top notch service and food! This resort is absolutely beautiful and clean. The spa is a must, it is fabulous! We could not eat at the Michelin Star restaurant which was very disappointing. The earliest reservation was for 9:45pm, which is very late. I wish I would have known to book dinner reservations ahead of time. There was no way to get an earlier reservation the entire week we were there. Everything at this resort was just amazing!

Excellent resort. Great service. I would have given this resort a 5/5 but there simply is not enough pool/beach chairs for everyone at the family ambassador pool. You need to be there for 715am in order to get a chair. For the price we paid this is unacceptable. Also the service at the Italian restaurant was sub par. The ground are beautiful and the beach is great. Emmanuel and Fatima at the pool service were outstanding. Aaron was an awesome personal concierge. Please fix the pool chair situation and will come back.
