Hunt for treasures in this southwest Arkansas town, from sparkling diamonds and silvery fish to precious antiques and quiet vacation moments.

Enjoy diverse family activities within a few miles of the lovely small town of Murfreesboro. Whether you like outdoor recreation, history, watersports, racecars or antiques, find plenty of action and relaxation to fill your vacation days. You may even find a diamond in the rough.

Near downtown, visit Ka-Do-Ha Indian Village to learn about the Native Americans who lived here in mounds 1,000 years ago. Pottery, pipes, flint and other artifacts from their daily lives are on display in the on-site museum. Hunt for arrowheads on the grounds.

Crater of Diamonds State Park is just south of the city. Camp overnight, pay a search fee and spend your days sifting through dirt looking for white, brown and yellow diamonds and other gemstones. Experts at the Diamond Discovery Center will weigh and certify your find, which is yours to keep. Relax in the Diamond Springs Water Park after your diamond search or drive 40 minutes south to Historic Washington State Park.

Fish, swim, boat and waterski on the Little Missouri River and Lake Greeson. The man-made lake also has interesting scuba diving. Try fly-fishing for rainbow trout below the Narrows Dam where cool lake waters flow into the river. The most productive fishing season is January through May.

From April through October, watch sprint cars race over a red clay track at Diamond Park Speedway. Stop along the roadways in and out of town to look for one-of-a-kind antique treasures.

The countryside surrounding Murfreesboro has mountains and hollows filled with trees and wildflowers. Hike through the area in summer for colorful flowers and early spring buds. In autumn, see the fall colors of maples, sycamores, oaks and other trees against the native green pines and cedars. Enjoy quiet walks along babbling streams as you appreciate the area’s natural beauty.

"Very nice staff. Old and out dated dirty rooms. Had to clean it before we could shower. Blood and dust on walls. Dirty towels with hair and dirty bed lines. Large crack in door to see outside. No bugs though. Very quiet and kind staff. Microwave, fridge, and coffee maker in room"

I love this little town and the mine.

A run down town that is mostly comprised of old buildings and mobile homes. Overall its a money grab at tourist's where the locals are strongly disdaining and agitated about those who travel through. Incredibly unwelcoming.

Small poor town on busy highway. Very close to the Crater of Diamonds State Park.

Food isn't the best at any of the restaurants & is pricey for what you get. It was better eating at places like McDonald's.
