I loved experiencing a more traditional inn while staying in Japan. This location is perfect for a relaxing and quiet getaway. I had no issues with communication, and the check-in process was easy.

Amazing host and beautiful home. Super close to multiple bus stops for easy transportation. Next to 7-eleven and a couple restaurants and food stands to grab something on the go. Definitely felt like we got the full culture experience!

Good Communication, but Some Cleanliness Issues

Communication with the host was good. This is not a hotel but a private house, and we were the only guests staying. I needed to provide my arrival time so the owner could meet us for check-in, which worked out fine. Since I chose to pay on-site, I didn’t receive the check-in information until I met the owner. The only accepted payment method was cash. The location is not particularly touristy, but there are convenience stores and places to eat within a 5-minute walk. The cleanliness of the bathroom and kitchen could be improved.

Best place to stay!

Absolutely wonderful property, exactly as advertised! The owner is very kind and gave us many recommendations on where to go in Kyoto. I hope to come back to Kyoto again and when I do I am definitely going to try to stay here again!

We enjoyed the ryokan experience of tatami, futon and shoji. We used bus, taxi and train to get around to the sights of Kyoto. It was especially nice to have a washing machine and a fridge!

DO NOT RECOMMEND

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Nagaya Kyoto Japanese Style Inn. The room was unbearably hot and infested with mosquitos, making it impossible to stay comfortably. I tried reaching out to the property manager multiple times but received no response. Even the Hotels.com agent attempted to contact them numerous times without any success. Due to these unbearable conditions, we had to leave after just 45 minutes, despite having booked for four nights. This was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend this inn to anyone.
