"Starting to look a little tatty around the edges and better attention to the cleaning we also found the the cooler was not working in the room"

"Arrived at lunch time and on check in told “we don’t do food” for lunch. Not sorry sir im afraid we don’t offer lunch but - Don’t do food as a response was just rude. What was funny is there is a sign on the hotel door saying no food and drink to be brought into the hotel. Went to the bar where there was a sign up offering sandwiches so though oh maybe reception didn’t realise. Then got told by the bar staff that the menu was not for normal hotel guests and we werent allowed it. So again very rude as they were also offering Afternoon Tea if you had booked. Went to use the pool and changing rooms undergoing refurbishment which is fine but we were told to go and change in hotel room and come back. So they wanted us to walk through the hotel in swimming costumes from the 3rd floor. Again very odd and staff quite rude about this. The room itself was nice and clean and the hotel is set in some nice grounds, it’s a bit dated in areas which may explain some of the refurbishment but we had no warning of this. Disappointing stay, especially for the price, wouldn’t say this was value for money."

"We had an awful stay at Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The experience started with extremely long queues, but the biggest issue was being woken by the fire alarm at 2am. After being forced to stand outside in horrendous rain and thunder, we eventually returned to our room and got back into bed, only to be woken again a few hours later by another false alarm. While in the lift during the first evacuation, another guest told us they had experienced the same issue repeatedly throughout the week during the night, which is quite frankly unacceptable. Our child was absolutely petrified by the whole ordeal, and after the second alarm we decided to pack up and prepare to leave. As a result, we got virtually no sleep at all. It's a real shame because the hotel itself is lovely and the décor is beautiful, but the repeated false alarms completely ruined our stay. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend it based on our experience."

"Very disappointing stay and certainly not the standard advertised. We booked a half-board stay after seeing the hotel’s own advertising which stated guests could enjoy a “3-course set menu dinner”. Instead, we were presented with a buffet that was of extremely poor quality. The carvery meats were largely inedible, vegetables were either undercooked or poor quality, and some items appeared frozen or improperly prepared. The overall dining experience was nowhere near what had been advertised. The restaurant itself also raised hygiene concerns. We witnessed food waste being scraped into open bins directly beside diners while people were still eating, there were flies present, and several restaurant chairs were visibly stained and dirty. The leisure facilities were equally disappointing. The changing rooms had a strong unpleasant odour, excessive condensation, damaged lockers and a general lack of upkeep. In the steam room, a drain grate had collapsed creating a trip hazard in an area with limited visibility. The pool area felt tired and poorly maintained, with rusting furniture and a hot tub that appeared heavily chlorinated, leaving us with skin irritation and headaches afterwards. Unfortunately, the room was no better. There was a noticeable urine smell, heavily stained bedding and mattress protectors, stains on the room furniture, a damaged window locking mechanism and generally poor standards of cleanliness and maintenance throughout."

"Stayed here for 2 nights as we had a concert at the Utilita Arena! Only a 10 minute walk if that to the Utilita Arena, and 15 minutes to the bullring and other areas located within Birmingham City Centre! We stayed in a one bedroom apartment , it was very well maintained and clean! The hotel uses an app which also has the feature of messaging and speaking to a member of staff on reception if this is needed during the stay! All staff we interacted with were pleasant and very helpful!"

"Reception staff didn’t find very welcoming or friendly on arrival or departure. I felt they expected me to know where to go to find my room and how to depart leaving my room card in a box. Carpet in the room had an area that looked wet on arrival. Overall my room was comfortable and adequate for my overnight stay."
