"Our recent stay at the Fairmont Royal York fell well below expectations, especially for what was meant to be a special milestone with my family.
Upon arrival, our room was not properly set up and was missing furniture. More concerning was a serious disturbance in the hallway overnight involving aggressive and profane behaviour that woke our family in a panic and required a call to security. It was unsettling and far from the experience we expected.
While breakfast was offered after the initial issue, it did little to improve the stay. The overall experience remained disrupted and disappointing.
What has been most frustrating, however, is the hotel’s response afterward. Despite multiple detailed follow-ups, I received repeated, nearly identical replies from different individuals, each offering the same generic 25% discount on a future stay. The back-and-forth felt impersonal and, at times, patronizing, rather than a genuine attempt to address the situation.
A conditional discount requiring a return visit does not resolve what occurred. Overall, this experience has left a poor impression and diminished my confidence in the level of service expected from this property."
