We really enjoyed our two night stay at this unique and comfortable ryokan. Our hosts are lovely people - all very kind and helpful. The onsen was a very pleasant surprise-I enjoyed the spa experience very much. Our room was large with a separate seating area to relax and look out at the mountain view. We also sat outside on our own deck. We had a quiet and comfortable sleep and we kept the small windows open at night to breathe the fresh mountain air. The area was only a five minute walk away from Fun2Drive, the Kintoki Jinga Shrine and trailhead, and also golfing. The location was also very convenient with buses going to places such as the Gotemba Premium Outlet, Gora, Odawara, and Hakone-Yumoto Station (we caught the T bus to Odawara Train Station at the Sengoku bus stop - only a 10 minute walk away). It is our favourite accommodation in our visit to Japan so far and we highly recommend it to others who want the traditional Japanese experience rather than staying in a small hotel room (like we did in Osaka and Tokyo). We would definitely return there on our next visit to Japan. The photos on the site don’t do it justice.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Located quite deep in the middle of nowhere in Hakone. Property manager seems like a nice fellow but barely speaks English. Told us there was a 150 yen/head/day charge for use of the facilities. Collected the same on arrival and then again tried to collect at departure - isnt mentioned on their site anywhere. Called it a usage fee when we arrived and tried to collect as a tax when we left. Very limited dining facilities - try Daichi if its open - excellent meals with huge portions. The 7/11 nearby has an elderly gentleman who speaks perfect english and is VERY helpful - frankly we relied on him for all information. The pool is heated and only accessible from 3 pm to 9 am. Can accommodate 2-3 adults at most. All amenities are provided. Ask for extra towels. Japanese style place so sleeping on floors - harder for the elderly. Getting to this place and back was a nightmare - only 1 or 2 highway buses which are packed. We stood for the entire 55 minute journey from Odawara station. The views are quite good but not much to do locally - any attraction is over an hour away and costs a fair bit. The manager had no clue about passes etc -Hakone pass if yall are exploring the region else be prepared to pay in excess of 1000 yen per journey. Frankly worth an overnight stay at best but not more.
This hotel was not only eerie but with very poor service. In the hotel amenities it mentions limited staff but they literally mean that if you arrive even 20 minutes before check in they will have you wait outside in the parking lot until 3pm. They have the policy of taking your shoes off at the door (not to your room, of the business) and they offer slippers that seem like they were never cleaned from previous users. The place is pretty old and has a damp smell to it.
