"Very upscale hotel and room had a beautiful view of the Detroit River. Front desk allowed me to check-in early so that was nice of them. Housekeeping didn't clean on the weekend and I was told it was standard practice to save on resources. While I understand that and didn't need daily housekeeping, it would've been better if I was told that in advance (or if the room had a sign / card indicating that). Rooftop bar is also very nice and there's also a decent sized pool and gym in the basement."

"$35 parking fee a night. If you do not choose valet, you have to find your own parking. Gave us one robe even though I stated it will be two people. Gave us one towel to use for the three nights I stayed(thank goodness I always bring extra) A housekeeper entered my room and even though the sign said to not bother us(the day of checkout, two hours prior to checkout) Terrible city view. My view was a parking lot & the roof of the next door building "

"The price I saw online at Expedia.com was different than the price I paid. Had to pay $90 extra than the price I saw online, when I got to hotel. Not hotels fault, Expedia had the wrong price posted for the room!!"

"The Hotel is an older hotel but it is in great condition. We found it to be charming, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean, i have no complaints. I would stay here again. My only complaint was the lighting in the halls was dark."

"Hotel Houze — Downtown Detroit, Michigan Not Recommended When I first arrived, I was assigned to Room 04, which had not been cleaned. I was moved to another room, but the issues didn’t stop there. The hotel looks more like a motel from the inside, with a metallic appearance on the upper floors. The quality of the sheets was very poor. they appeared yellow and brownish, suggesting the laundry machines are either dirty or using harsh chemicals that discolor the linens. Even worse, the blanket I was given had visible blood stains on it, which was completely unacceptable. I was on the top floor and the ceiling was actively leaking the entire stay. I had to use the dirty blankets to cover a pot catching the water. When I went to iron my blouse for my trade show the next morning, there was residue on the iron that transferred directly onto my clothes. Because the internet and phone lines were both down, I had no way to contact the front desk to request a new iron. I was left with no choice but to spend approximately 30 minutes scrubbing the iron clean with a Brillo pad myself before I could finish getting ready. The internet went out Tuesday midday and was down for the rest of my stay. During that time there were also no working phone lines, and the keypad entry system to the rooms was not functioning properly either. That said, the front desk staff were excellent and very professional. And I do appreciate that Expedia provided a 50% reimbursement after I reported thes issues."

"Good value! Clean and updated room. Staff were helpful and polite. Only issue I seem to have was with the thermostat in the room (wouldn’t cool)."
