"Unfortunately, my experience at this property did not align with the very high ratings posted online. Upon arrival, I encountered roaches in the elevator, which immediately raised concerns about the overall condition of the hotel.
The bathroom in the suite had a persistent sewer odor, and there was also a noticeable musty or mold-like smell throughout much of the property. The carpets appeared to show signs of past water damage, and I also noticed areas on the walls where bubbling beneath the paint suggested unresolved moisture or mold issues that may have been covered over rather than properly repaired. Paper thin walls. Any sound from neighbors or the tuk-tuk drivers come blaring through.
While I understand that properties can face maintenance challenges, the condition of the hotel fell significantly below expectations for the rating it currently holds. Based on my stay, I would personally rate it much lower.
That said, I do want to recognize the staff, who were consistently polite, welcoming, and professional during my visit."
"My stay was very pleasant. Everything we encountered was excellent. Room, view, bed, restaurant, breakfast buffet. There is one word to describe this place. EXCELLENT."
"The staff are what made an amazing, from the moment they open the taxi door for you to the moment they check you out dedicated staff made it amazing. Would love to stay here again great job to the front line staff"
"Great location for shopping, restaurants and general sightseeing. Hotel was clean and quiet with great views. Important to note that the hotel is a "dry hotel", you can bring in your own alcoholic drinks, but alcohol is not available at the hotel at all. Great hotel for relaxation and comfort."
"I stayed at 5 different hotels and resorts in my first solo travel to Thailand.. 2 in Bangkok, 1 in Chiang Mai, and 2 in Ko Samui. I would only give one of these stays 5 stars and it is the Carlton. Not because it was anything extravagant or spectacular.. but because it consistently excelled in all areas I would consider worthy to give it 5 stars. Consistency is most important to me in awarding 5 stars while other properties may be more spectacle in 1-2 (Dusit Thani) areas but fall short in others.
Location - good to everything but tucked away enough to feel like you got away from the overwhelming chaos
Staff - very friendly
Gym - smallish but one of the best out of the trip
Pool - solid with attentive staff
Rooftop - nice with a cozy feeling and good view
Room - comfortable and quiet. The quietest out of all the hotels I stayed at but I had a room that was tucked away at the end of hallway."
