I was really hyped about spending a long New Year's weekend. However, my first impression was this is pure chaos. We arrived at the hotel at noon and were told that our room was not ready. I knew we were early so I didn't expect to check in; we just wanted to store our luggage and explore the area. When we returned at 3:00 p.m., the lobby was extremely crowded. We gave our luggage claim card to the agent at reception. After we checked in, another employee was going to escort us to our room. As we were walking to the elevator, he said, "Don't you have luggage?" When I informed him that we gave the claim check to reception, he went back to look for our luggage. There seemed to be a complete lack of communication between staff members. The room itself was nicely furnished and clean with a deep soaking tub. Breakfast was also pure chaos. Although the breakfast area was well staff, the employees were tripping over each other. As food selections ran out, they were slow to restock. The quality of the breads/pastries was equivalent to a grocery store. After breakfast, we wanted to make a few phone calls before going out for the day but almost immediately the housekeeper rang our door bell. My husband told her that we needed a few minutes. She disregarded this request, brought her cart into the room and began cleaning. She essentially kicked us out of our room. Overall, the Hyatt did not meet my expectations. The one redeeming factor was we could partially see Mt Fuji from our room.
