"Loved the room, decent location, but none of the staff spoke English which made it hard to ask for anything. I understand being in a non-English speaking country, but a 4 star hotel should be able to accommodate international guests easily. "

"As you step in the lobby you are greeted by professional staff ready to give you the warmest of welcome. The hotel is clean and service quality # 1. The manager helped us with our local SIM card and even offered to talk with China Telecom customer Service despite the fact he was multi tasking (greeting guests, checking them in and supervising his staff). Appreciation to 朱啟纵 who went out of her way to give us advice on local attractions, restaurants and how best to use the subway system. The cleaning lady always greeted us with a smile and frequently asked whether we needed something. She seemed to be there all the time ready to serve. This is why we booked 1 extra night (total 2+1). Definitely recommend the hotel. Exactly what the hotel advertises. No unpleasant surprises. Will definitely be our top choice when visiting Shanghai next time. To all the hotel staff a great thank you. "

"The AC was set to a floor temperature 21.5C so quite stuffy, not adjustable to a lower level if you sleep better in a colder room. Fortunately there were windows that could be opened. The room was clean and a very good size. The location is good. The western food menu is large but the quality was very poor. The pizza was awful and the chicken used across dishes. Check in and out was very quick. "

"1st time traveling to China and 1st stop in Shanghai. It’s a 5-star hotel in a great location and “Nanjing” walking street just crossing the street. Friendly staff, good service even room cleaning is excellent. Unluckily my room was settled at a low floor (FL 7) and my window view is small street of side of the building and there was a ground floor shop doing renovations from the midnight to the morning every night from my check in to check out. I believe the hotel will do something for me if I make a complaint but I don’t and just let it go. Overall it’s a great place to stay."

"I have been in China several times and stayed in various hotels. Consider this hotel one of the best. It’s impossible to find a better hotel location with a view of the beautiful Yu Garden on one side and famous Bund on the other. It’s also located just a few steps from the Metro with connection to major destinations. I was deeply touched by the care and attention shown by the entire staff -the front desk (Jerry was best), housekeepers, buffet staff and manager. Clean rooms with all amenities and fully stocked with supplies ranging from toothbrushes to slippers. Bottled water was also provided. Famous Pear Soup is always available as a light local treat at any time of the day. Laundry is also free here. The morning buffet is delicious and varied- available every day with options to suit every taste. On the second floor there is a restaurant with magnificent local dinner cuisine. I highly suggest this hotel as a wonderful place to stay. Will definitely return the next time I am in Shanghai. "
