With new COVID-19 safety measures in effect, travel looks a lot different at present. Here's what you should know before you pack your bags for West Coast of Fuerteventura:

• Find out the restrictions and rules in both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so don't forget to check before you lock something in.
• You must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at security checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked.
• To minimize the risk of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA employee.
• TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will need to be removed from your bag for scanning.
• Empty everything from your pockets, such as your wallet, keys and phone, and place them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you're taking food on the plane with you, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
