Tower Fall Tours

Tower Fall
Gaze up at the iconic towers at the head of this tall waterfall and climb down to the creek for a view from below.

Tower Fall is a majestic waterfall that plunges 132 feet (40 meters) into its namesake creek in the Yellowstone National Park. It consists of a single, relatively narrow chute that drops from a cliff straight as an arrow between the trees. Hear the rush of the water and the calls of wildlife at this serene and picturesque natural area.

Stand at the viewing platform near the parking lot above the waterfall to look down on the rushing water. Here, you can see the tower rock formations above the waterfall that give the creek and the falls their name. See a rainbow arched across the mist of the waterfall adding to the enchantment. Arrive early at this popular spot to avoid the crowds.

See the waterfall from below by hiking down a longer route, about 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) round-trip and descend to the base as it flows into the creek. Reach the end of the trail and capture photos of this natural wonder.

Clamber over the rocks of the creek and feel the water running through your fingers. The nearby viewing point of Calcite Springs also offers picturesque vistas of the area, including the unusual hexagonal basalt pillars.

Purchase snacks, refreshments and souvenirs from the Tower General Store near the parking lot.

Pay a vehicle fee for a 7-day pass to enter Yellowstone National Park. Individuals on foot or bicycle pay a smaller per-person admittance fee. The park is open at all times, although many campgrounds, shops and facilities open only in summer.

Tower Fall is in the northern part of Yellowstone National Park in northwestern Wyoming. It falls into its namesake creek near its confluence with the Yellowstone River. Leave your car at the nearby parking lot and walk to the viewing area. See other park sights, such as the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Pilot Peak and Yellowstone Lake in the first U.S. national park.
