Still the BEST price for a room in Toronto, and very convenient for exploring the city or going shopping, sight seeing or other. I was there for a festival in the Annex district which was literally walking distance but also highly accessable via street car, which stops right outside our residence.
Room was clean, one of the mattresses on the single bed was very old, flat and uncomfortable compared to the other visibly newer one. Nice location, close to many ttc options, central ac was lacking, room was very warm. Staff were very friendly. Overall decent for the price and location, would stay again.
Great for a solo traveler. Centered to a lot of things to do, some within walking, all within Uber range. Bathrooms and shower are dorm style and were clean and stocked. Check-in/out was easy. Though the room is a small dorm room style it was not cramped for me/solo. Facility was safe a secure. Temps were good (End of May/Early June) and bed was a double meant for solo travelers.
Loved the space, quiet, elevators, bins for waste, washrooms, beds, towels, location.
Found the lack of any kind of cups or glasses, spoons, kettle or pot to make tea to be somewhat spartan.
It took us a while til we finally asked one of the desk attendants as to the location of food. We were pleasantly directed to its location. The food was ok but the pancakes were rather stiff instead of being soft. My tea and juice were great.
Our room was nicely made and sleep came quickly although I was initially kept awake with the noises of the bed.
Overall our experience was a good one.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
It’s clean and good location but there is no washroom inside the room. So it is very inconvenient.
Best budget option for staying in Toronto, hands down! Even though the parking was a bit convoluted to get set up (it's a paid service via the University's parking system, not by the actual residence), it gave me a ton of flexibility and freedom to leave my car parked a few blocks away in an underground parking lot. The staff working the service desk were very friendly and helpful for getting me setup with a welcome packet.
So even though parking was extra, it was well worth it due to the cost and location while staying in Toronto.
The room was small but perfect for somewhere to sleep or even work during a conference. A great desk area and comfortable office chair in the room, and the university internet is blazing fast.
Coffee is a bit of a trek in the morning before things open. The closest I found was Tim Hortons, about an eight minute walk away. There are many food options on Spadina.
They do not clean or enter the room during your stay. They provide a towel, and luckily it dries quickly. There is a shared kitchen and a shared bathroom, with plenty of private shower stalls.
Front desk staff are very nice and friendly.
The mens shared bathroom was cleaned the second day I stayed, but they didn't actually clean the showers, leaving hair and grime and the bad smell leftover. The room is okay but the AC vent is always seemingly "leaking" air and making this annoying high pitched noise. Part of the wall trim is hanging off the wall and was previously duct taped and there's duct tape holding together other parts of it.

Do not get me wrong, for the price, this is decent sleeping area and the hotel is very conveniently located. However, it felt like a prison cell and we were wondering how students live in there because we only spent 3 nights yet i felt depressed. The walls are thin, can’t open the window at night for some technical issues, there was barely any light in the room. The women’s washroom was also closed off for a day. If you just want a cheap place to sleep, it does the job. You get what u pay for. The staff were very helpful and nice.
If you're looking for an affordable place to stay, and don't mind if it isn't fancy, the UofT residence is great! We are 2 friends travelling together, and loved having our own private room with a bed each. It's very barebones but it does the job. The matresses are quite hard, there are 2 desks and 2 big wardrobes.
Bathrooms are shared and can be a bit of a walk. There are plenty of toilet stalls, shower stalls and sinks. The shower stalls were well design with a sperate, dry changing area, and the shower itself. However this is the one downside we found, is the showers, though no doubt cleaned daily, got a lot of use, and at least on the women's side, we're covered in long hair all over the walls and floor, and even some shorter hairs as if someone had shaved...
Otherwise, we liked that the front desk is open until 2:30am because we ended up running late. The residence is just off Spadina with several tram lines nearby, and a mere 10 minute walk from Kensington Market.
For the frugal traveler, this is a great option.
