「We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was spotless and had all the facilities we could possibly ask for including a secure private garden section with decking area, perfect for the dogs. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, all consisting of excellent locally sources ingredients expertly cooked. The property was conveniently located a short drive from Chatsworth House, Bakewell and a number of other tourist attractions. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again or to recommend to others.」

「Lovely, cosy pub hotel. Great food with a choice of menus, ranging from the tasting menu to simple (but very well done) pub fayre. We chose from the pub menu, special mention to the fish and chips, perfect! Accompanied by a good choice of drinks, with beer from the local Thornbridge brewery. Very handy spot for local attractions. We stayed for one night on a mini-break and the room was perfect. Lovely bedroom decoration, nicely fitted out bathroom with a decent sized bath and rainfall...

「Excellent all round. I arrived too early to check in but was able to leave my luggage. When I got there (much later) to check in, my bag had been put in my room for me, which was really appreciated. Staff were all charming, helpful and friendly.」

「Maz and crew were great hosts for the 2 nights we stayed! The rooms were clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms had a hairdryer, shampoo and body wash and an iron was available. Close proximity to the bus station and footpath to Chattsworth House. It’s about a 25 minute walk from the front door of the hotel to Chattsworth House. Several dining options within a short walk. Wouldn’t recommend getting off at the Grindleford train stop for this hotel, as taxis were nonexistent....
