"Kyoto Brighton was a high quality hotel our family stayed at during the second half of our Japan trip. One thing that really impressed us was the staff's friendliness and professionalism - very respectful and bowing during each greeting. The hotel was very spacious and the rooms and bathrooms were large to accommodate us 4 comfortably. Location was good - just far enough from the busyness, and they offer a shuttle service which we used multiple times (convenient). The Hotel was right next to the Kyoto Imperial Palace which was beautiful and relaxing place to relax and walk. There is a controlled entry into the main palace areas but it is free and worth the time to visit. We loved how the hotel had different housekeeping options (i.e. trash, towels, supplies only, no making beds, etc...)- all we had to do was pick the options and hang the doortag on the handle. Only thing was that they didn't have laundry machines to do laundry but instead had dry clean/laundry service which was additional costs. We ended up walking 8 minutes to a laundromat which was fine with us. Overall great experience and appreciate the high quality hotel and staff."

"Overall it is really an excellent hotel. Many of the rooms should be updated, but still they are adequate and spacious. The breakfast area can be busy, but there is a large adjacent room with plenty of space. The hotel staff were great. The onsen has a spacious indoor bath and plenty of washing areas. The outdoor bath is very pleasant, just be careful walking on the stone surfaces. The staff takes good care of the onsen and sauna. The location is good. You can walk to Nagahama JR station and the old town area is just beyond. The lake and the large beautiful next door park and castle is good for walking. There are not many restaurants open at night in central Nagahama, but you can probably find something."
