Southernmost Beach Resort and Guesthouses

"Good first impression checking in. Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was ok off of the Tranquility pool. We did not like the heavy frosted sliding bathroom door, it was loud. There also needs to be counter space or cabinet of some sort in the bathroom. We brought a table in so we could put our toiletries on it. There should be another mirror somewhere in the room other than the one in the bathroom. Our light and fan was on some kind of timer and turned on and off automatically at random times. Turning on at 7 am was not cool. The beach was gross with all the sargassum and stunk really bad. We booked at this hotel due to being on the beach and we didn’t even go on it at all. The resort next door had really clean and usable beach. Not sure why ours was so bad. One of the pools is under construction. The bar off the beach was nice except for the smell. Food was good. Good reminder communications from the hotel on events and happenings at the pools. Overall, good food and drinks, friendly staff and easily accessible to the main streets."
Opal Key Resort & Marina, Key West

"Location is great. Right on the waterfront by the harbor. Check in went well. Needed help with getting our luggage to our room. The doorman would only assist with getting us a mobile cart to load our own bags and transport to our room which was a bit of a trek. The building we were assigned to was ‘next door’. The resort needs to offer a shuttle or cart to assist with luggage. Was disappointed there was no help. Also there can be a cruise ship docked right in the way of the sunset viewing, although they are usually gone before the sun goes down (summer). However Mallory Square is right next door and has great views. Pool was nice, a little small but on par for Key West. The topside bar area is a great place to watch the sunset. Nice giveaways at the pool, ice cold water, free sun screen lotion, ice cold cooling rags, free eye glass cleaner and wipe cloths. The room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Nice robes and slippers! Did not eat at the hotel as we wanted to experience several places in Key West that were recommended."

Ridley House - Key West Historic Inns

"The Ridley House is beautiful and full of old world charm. Large bedrooms and great location. Breakfast each day was fabulous. Not your typical continental breakfast! We stayed in room 6 with a front balcony on Caroline St. Within the first 5 minutes of us being there, we locked ourselves out of the room, on the balcony b/c the door locks automatically when it shuts! Luckily some passersby were able to get the front desk to help us and it was just a funny story after that. We noticed the ear plugs on the side tables due to the roosters crowing and they weren't kidding. We discovered some of them roost high up in the trees, level with the balcony, and sing their "little" songs all night long! Also, another funny story to tell about one of our trips to KW. I would stay at the Ridley House again, but perhaps a room farther away from the road. Ha"

"Our favorite place in Key West to stay - close enough to the center of all the things you want to do but just far enough not to have to deal with the late night loud parties. Nice upscale rooms very well maintained and 2 pools that give the tropical oasis feel. Their cafe is a high end restaurant that we tried - the food and drinks were good but not outstanding which is the way it is priced so we were disappointed. We will definitely stay here again but will skip the Cafe Marquesa - a better choice for a nice upscale evening out is the A&B Lobster House which is more upscale with amazing food, service, and drinks for 2/3 the expense - they exceeded expectations and we will go there again."

"Great little spot. Room was tidy and had a very eclectic style. Cozy bedrooms, full fridge and stove. Housekeeping made sure the tree debris on pathways were removed every morning and we were set up with clean towels. Breakfast bar was plentiful and tasty. Only one little qualm… we left early/ checked out early to catch a sailboat ride. After our boat excursion I realized I had left some belongings at the resort. We went back to retrieve them and we were greeted with unpleasantness. A woman was in the parking lot and told us we couldn’t park there and that it was reserved for guests only. I tried to explain that we were guess gave the cottage # etc. and that I thought I left something on our side patio area. She refused to let us enter the property and said she would talk to the cleaning staff. I was so upset at her demeanor and lack of professionalism I chose to forget the items and left the premises immediately. This episode definitely put a nasty stain on an up to that point pretty pleasant stay. Not sure if I’d go back. There are so many other amazing places to stay in old Key West!"
