It was a real pleasure to come back to this wonderful home after a long day filled with fantastic experiences. We are very thankful for having the opportunity to stay here. "We had a lovely stay at the Kyoto Brighton Hotel. Located north of the main city center, it offers a wonderful, quieter escape, though you should expect to take a taxi to get to the main train station and most major sightseeing hubs. For us, the location's unique perks far outweighed the distance: Historic Walkability: Nijo Castle (Kyoto Castle) is well within walking distance and made for a fantastic, highly enjoyable excursion. Local Neighborhood Vibe: We absolutely loved walking around the immediate neighborhood. It feels authentic and local, yet remains incredibly convenient. Within a short walk, we found a great grocery store, several 7-Eleven locations, and a very handy coin-operated laundry. The Best Part: The hotel is an easy, beautiful walk to the expansive Kyoto Imperial Palace park grounds. One minor downside to note: Be careful with your physical room keys! The hotel will charge you a fee if you lose them or if you want to keep one as a souvenir. Overall, if you don't mind relying on taxis to venture further out, the Brighton offers a peaceful, authentic, and highly comfortable base for exploring Kyoto."

"Great property. Modern, clean, close to some markets, connected to restaurants, many more restaurants nearby, connected to the train station, so many things to list. Bath house after a long day was nice. Laundry room only had 4 machines so there were quite a few angry people. We waited several hours for a couple of machines. Would stay again easily"

"We had a wonderful stay at The Royal park Canvas Nijo. We loved the location right across from Nijo Station. We also fell in love with the Life supermarket a block away and enjoyed shopping there. There are a variety of restaurants near by too we tried a few but if you are on a budget the Life Market nightly discount bentos are tasty and a great deal. Where else can you get a bento for less than $5 CAD. We had a triple room. So it was 2 single bed with a made up sofa bed. The rooms are ok size wise I would say it is typical of Japan. Room and hotel is clean bathroom shower was surprising large. The breakfast was good. It is not huge but sufficiently large enough that you will find something to eat. Our favourite was the coffee machine. Not for the coffee but the Ice Matcha Latte. The trick is to get a cup full of ice first from the ice machine then get the ice Matcha option. We know matcha Latte is not authentic Japanese but it is soooo good, I personally did not try the public bath (because I was sick) but my friend who stayed at a different room did and said the water was hot and not very busy when she went every night before bedtime. Over all I would recommend Canvas Nijo for its location, amenities and clean comfortable rooms."

"I would have loved to have a washing machine available. Other than that, it was extremely comfortable and convenient! Walking distance to a 7-11, Lawson’s, Kyoto Station, and Avanti. Rooms were much larger than I expected them to be! Perfectly comfortable for 3 ppl. I could have easily fit 2 more ppl in there."

"The hotel rooms were spacious, clean and well stocked. The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, and the breakfast options were good too. It’s worth bearing in mind that the rooms were not serviced every day, as part of their hotel policy; but the service was available on request. Lovely Onsen too!"

"it was a busy hotel, with big check in groups. didn't feel anything special when checking in. If this is a 4-star hotel, it certainly was not one. We had a room on 2nd floor, that looked to the weed area on lower roof area. We were supposed to stay 3 nights but ended up leaving after 2 nights, there wasn't a wow factor in any way. Room was basic, bathroom was small. We bought buffet breakfast one morning and it was very meager - was not worth the price of $30. All in all, we would not stay there again."
