The Manchester climbing wall park is one of my new favorite spots in Richmond, VA. To get here, find the Flood Wall Walk near Legend Brewing Co and follow the path! When you get the the climbing wall, head towards the river.
On a recent snow day, I took a walk along the Flood Wall, and found myself under the Manchester Bridge that spans the James River in Richmond. This bridge was built to replace the old Ninth Street Bridge, which was susceptible to flood damage (you can see the ruins of this bridge in the left side of the photo if you look close enough). #architecture
When walking along Richmond's Flood Wall in Manchester, you can leave the path and head toward the river. I did just that on a snowy day to get this photo. These ruins are part of the old Richmond and Peterburg Railroad Bridge, of which only the pillars remain. What's really cool is that you're actually permitted to climb them, and the tallest even has climbing hooks installed! #snow #architecture #bestof5
