The Connally Hotel Downtown Atlanta, an Ascend Collection Hotel

"The mattresses are very thin that you can feel the springs poking you when you lay down. The carpet has a very wet and mildew smell to them upon entering the room. The halls are not adequately ventilated so it is extremely warm as you await an elevator. The iron did not work in our room in spite of using different outlets. The toilet runs after flushing and there is not enough pressure nor hot water in the showers. I addressed the hot water concerns to the staff to which one of them made a comment on my appearance stating that he “likes what he sees”. I did not find that humorous or professional at the time that I am wanting the concerns about my experience to be taken seriously. The staff was able to solve the issue with the toilet however the water remained lukewarm. I spoke with other customers in passing and they confirmed the issues with their water pressure and temperature as well. I really want to enjoy my stay however I was willing to cancel the remainder of it and go home a day early. I truly don’t consider myself a complainer or problematic but I must let someone know about this experience. It is highly unlikely that I will book again or recommend."

"My stay was disappointing overall. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. The room remained hot and humid, and despite requesting maintenance for two days, no one came to inspect or repair it. There were multiple rooms on our floor smoking marijuana, and the smell was strong throughout the hallway. The beds were worn out with noticeable springs, there was no mini fridge, and the handicap grab bars in the shower were pulling away from the wall. The bathroom itself was clean. The hotel also showed signs of poor upkeep. Carpets were torn in several hallways, wallpaper was peeling near elevators, and the ice machine on our floor was broken. I had to check several floors before finding one that worked. There were also chips thrown on the floor in front of several doors; crushed by guests. The valet operation was concerning. I witnessed attendants driving aggressively, backing vehicles over curbs, and scraping multiple cars on the steep garage entrance. One attendant struggled repeatedly to park a vehicle before speeding off to park it elsewhere. The guest Wi-Fi appeared completely open without any guest verification, and there were frequently people sleeping across the lobby couches. While the bathroom was clean, the lack of maintenance response, property condition, smoking issues, and valet concerns made this a disappointing experience. I would encourage management to focus on facility maintenance, guest safety, and service responsiveness."

"We stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. The hotel itself is nice, rooms are comfy and quiet. Pillows are hit and miss, but that’s as much personal preference as an actual issue. Easy to get to and very reasonably priced, even being 500 feet from Centennial Park for the World Cup party. However, those aren’t the reason you should stay here. Of anywhere in the world I have stayed, the friendliness and the efforts made by the staff to make this a great stay is absolutely second to none. Anywhere. I would make a return trip to ATL if ONLY to have the chance to experience this team’s excellent work again"

"This hotel was amazing. Was in town for a concert and this hotel was the perfect location and within walking distance of State Farm Arena. The staff there was super nice and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and clean. I’d highly recommend staying here and I will be back soon."
